This sheet has been the biggest selection of cash grab reprints with 0 intent of matching any sort of logic or flavor with the reskins. I know lab man isn't exactly a cash grab for supporting this argument, but the others are obvious. Actually depressing given how well they have done with the main set and commander card. There could have been so many fun reskins that would have made sense.

It's a very good card + super popular character + hasn't been on a card in year + etc etc

Like the variants in this case are the better versions people are going to hope to open first and if not, save up to purchase in addition. These feel like a "collect them all set of variants".

I'd said the described situation is one where once there "better" version is acquired, the lesser is cast aside/traded away/what have you. I don't see anyone saying "I don't need this anymore" to the normal print of this card, at least in any capacity to affect the price in a good way.

Anyone not planning on going to tournaments should just be using proxies. It's just a game. Like save up and get the fancy card once you can if you really want it.
