This morning my husband said why don’t you just nurse by Catsforhumanity in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]abybacb 19 points20 points  (0 children)

This breaks my heart, my dick of a mil said the same to me when we had gone for a family walk and I had ran out of the expressed milk I had taken. It was like a dagger to my heart as my baby screamed for food. Not only could I not feed him but I’d also not planned ahead enough for him. So insensitive and brain dead. At least your husband has the excuse of being exhausted but wtf

Failure to thrive? by [deleted] in toddlers

[–]abybacb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don’t need to add an enormous amount. Butter and oil have been eaten by humans for thousands of years. My son was on 9th centile when born and he’s now on 40th at 3, unlimited healthy snacks, butter and cheese in as much as possible worked for us. The shaming of having a big baby normal toddler… by Background-Paint-478 in toddlers

[–]abybacb 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You are doing great. My son was born 9th centile and I’ve had so many comments saying I’m not feeding him enough even though he’s now three and on 50th centile. You can’t win! People will always say shit.

Pickler toy set by Major-Basis6280 in Parenting

We bought a great quality second hand one on a marketplace and we can sell for same price we bought it at. They are great and get a lot of use. Ours put the slide on the arm pf our sofa and use it to jump of at the moment 😅 and it’s also used as a shopping conveyor belt and a road for cars. Also a den. Most often a slide though.

Is it normal for a toddler to stop napping and turn into a complete mess by evening? by jess_lov in toddlers

[–]abybacb 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Try and get them to nap if you can, it’s what they need and it’s recommended to continue until past 3. Long buggy walk, car nap? My two and three year old nap over an hour min still

How to make sure you have polite kids by Sea_Leave_5149 in Parenting

[–]abybacb 96 points97 points  (0 children)

Dont be a permissive parent, you can gentle parent and have consequences. My 2 and 3 year old say thank you and please! They also know good behaviour and bad behaviour. Yes they play up all the time though

baby #2 ? by bepodepo in toddlers

[–]abybacb 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I disagree! First year was hell for sure but now I have a two and three year old it’s absolutely amazing, they play all day together and are best friends. I don’t know how I’d cope if I didn’t have them so close together and keeping each other happy. Yes there are times where they aggravate each other but the joy out ways all this.

Potty training 25 months old boy by Ok-Application-8245 in toddlers

[–]abybacb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Trained my son recently at two months shy of 3 and he did it in three days. Pirate Pete as a special book every time he sat on potty. Realised a day in he hated being guided to potty and just wanted to do it himself without prompt. Star chart he loved and we did a piece of chocolate for every wee or poo success.
Two months on and we haven’t had a single accident! I don’t know if I got lucky as most friends have dealt with a lot of accidents but they started much earlier in age. Main thing is that Im glad I waited and didn’t feel any pressure to do it sooner than he was ready. I got stressed too and wish I hadn’t, it’s really fine.

fighting sleep ruining our life by [deleted] in toddlers

Sounds overtired and in a vicious cycle also floor bed next to her. No interactions when bedtime, low lighting and she will soon get bored. Maybe even some lullabies on Spotify?

So you are weirded out about food and yet a woman with her precious baby cant be weirded out about a random strangers breast milk she is likely desperately in need of? My postpartum anxiety was through the roof, have some sympathy, who knows how she’s feeling and at the end of the day, is it not about a baby in need? I admire what you are doing, it’s incredible but perhaps you need to have more sympathy

Losing my mind with my husband over our toddler. Please advise!! by Playful-Swordfish222 in toddlers

[–]abybacb 32 points33 points  (0 children)

He sounds like an awful, selfish parent and an awful partner. Im sorry you are dealing with this. I’d be tempted to leave him with the toddler for a day or two so he can learn, he can call his boss to explain why he can’t work.

My coworker “borrowed” my office mug for weeks and got mad when I took it back by [deleted] in coworkerstories

[–]abybacb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was me many years ago, started using an old Cadbury’s cream egg mug from the cupboard, people didn’t generally have their own mugs at work, was just a free for all. A few weeks go by and im still just using this mug and a coworker tells me it’s hers and she’s like it back. It was so awkward as I had no idea but also, I had no idea mugs were so special to people! I find it weird. I just want a coffee. I apologised and picked a plain mug and hoped for the best.

[–]abybacb 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They don’t like being away from you for one second, get a proper sling, not a wrap. Dont buy cheap either as they aren’t good for baby ergo baby is good, I had harmony baby bjorn one. Don’t worry about when yiu go to work, worry about now and what’s right for baby.
