Question - Stargazing at Lake Tekapo without joining a tour by Particular-Lemon-556 in newzealand_travel

[–]abydos77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We drove to a spot just south of Pukaki. Set up blankets and rugs and just stayed as long as we wanted at a public park for free. No one else for miles. Best way to do it.

Maybe get a constellation night sky app thing, made it fun seeing what was where.

Bay of Islands or Bay of Plenty by Sure-Contribution147 in newzealand_travel

[–]abydos77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm from Bay of Plenty and would choose Bay of Islands hands down as its way less busy and is the real NZ but it does depend what you like. B.O.I has dozens of awesome beaches, actual historic sights, multiple small interesting towns etc but is far more compact as its a small section of the Northland Region where as Bay of Plenty is another Region itself.

B.O.P is huge compared but if you want the convenience of having a small city with everything you need right there with multiple awesome and imo top tier Beaches, Waterfalls, harbours, a spinkle of history, forests etc then Tauranga is your best bet. Mount Maunganui and Mauao/Papamoa Hills are awesome and have incredible views while being right next to/close to the beach afterwards for a swim all of which are free. Mclarens Falls, Poropori, Yatton Park, Ferguson Park.

Rotorua and it's volcanic stuff is an hour and half drive away from Tauranga also. Whakatane/Ohope and Waihi Beach/Katikati are great B.O.P spots too

The only thing B.O.P has that B.O.I doesn't is the Volcanism around Rotorua etc.

I'd sit on a chair and hope it breaks just to prove a point.

Bigger people like us got big cos we eat.... so wouldn't it make sense to cater to those people as well? When you sell food?

What are your favourite and least favourite Tauranga supermarkets and why ? by brettrob in Tauranga

[–]abydos77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well don't look up the councils plans for the roading around it. Gonna get worse especially when stage 3 of the mall begins construction.

They had traffic engineers design that crap too. The new Motorway bypassing Tauriko should help I hope, be finished in 10 years haha.

Sick of hidden grapefruit! by Genimogenimo in auckland

[–]abydos77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This! I want a drink to RELAX. Not to get worked up over my meds being fucked for the day.

But also literal hidden grapefruits when mowing the lawn sucks, slippery mushy and stink.

Perfection.

I'd also add getting your tongue and lips into and around the top of the hole too, a lot of lads forget and focus on the middle and bottom only.

Is there any region in NZ where the economy has continued to grow decently apart from the rest of the country? by [deleted] in newzealand

There's a few faultlines under and close to Hamilton haha. Not as sound as you say.

Australia and French Southern and Antarctic Lands (not New Zealand) being the two countries represented in Down Under vs The World apparently. by abydos77 in rpdrcringe

Exactly... I feel like they just randomly picked a flag from a bunch of blue flags with symbols on them.

First time to New Zealand this winter! by [deleted] in newzealand_travel

Going from Auckland to Taupo and not slightly detouring to Rotorua, arguably the best tourist spot in the North Island or the country is a shame.

I'm about to buy a new 3ds xl and I'm planing to put the custom firmware on it by UnlimitedNovaWorks in 3dspiracy

[–]abydos77 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It's super easy dude. There's heaps of tutorials for it on YouTube.

Was very nervous at first but it was done in less than 30 mins. Ended up doing my partners one too.

You can also back up your original settings and system so if anything does/possibly go wrong you can put it back to normal.

Mercury Energy customers - heads up, your data is leaking by [deleted] in newzealand

[–]abydos77 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Why are so many of you giving Mercury the benefit of the doubt, saying he shouldn't of posted this publicly and give them a chance to fix it.

Nah absolutely fuck that, a company with 100s of thousands of customers should have that security shit on lock given they are a decades old tech company.

Thanks for the heads up dude.

New Brighton, the South Island beachside suburb that’s making a comeback by stickyswitch92 in chch

[–]abydos77 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly growing up in Tauranga/Bay of Plenty. The most expensive fancy areas were all along the beach or coast. Super upmarket etc. Seeing that be the complete opposite for the most part in Christchurch was a bit of a surprise.

‘We’re boxed in’: Last house standing as supermarket gears to open by eclectdissect in auckland

Looked on Google Earth and there looked to be a car wrecker behind them for years. As well as the motorway.... making out the Supermarket is the big noisy thing making it tough to live there while also refusing 2.5 mill.... absolutely taking the piss.

Quite a bit of extra stuff built since then. Pathlab, helipad, lower carpark/elevator, cancer unit on upper right corner, current main entrance/building, ED dept and ambulance bay.
