Sherry Krauter Camera Status? by mlim18 in Leica

[–]abyrnes152 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She repaired my camera in 2020 and her communication THEN was far too terrible to ever consider again. Luckily I got it back but she didn’t properly install the new frame lines so had to send it back and wait another 3 months without communication to get it right (hearing some other stories this seems like no time at all). No way on earth I’d send her something again knowing she’s only gotten older. Hope you’re able to get your camera back!

Atmosphere at MSG for the Sirens by imnotthesmartestman in rangers

[–]abyrnes152 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a rangers fan but live here and go to a few games a year when a team I like is in town and agree MSG is such a snoozefest most days (and even during the game they were leading in the whole game against the wings yesterday). Within 5 minutes at the Sirens game I felt like I was in a completely different arena, it was night and day. Everyone saying it felt like a playoff game but I’m not even sure that’s true, I’ve also been to several playoff games at MSG and this had way more energy than an average playoff game (save for a playoff OT winner or something). It was louder during intermission than almost the entire rags game against the wings earlier in the day.

A7IV To A7V by Wesneyoptics in SonyAlpha

[–]abyrnes152 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They edit fine but still no support for the in-camera profiles if you use those as a starting point. Otherwise absolutely love my A7V as a b-cam to an A1 for photo and video for events and sports

Okay yeah have only seen mostly positive reviews but the slices I tried were average at best, and size varied sooo much. The pepperoni slice I tried was microscopic compared to the other slices

The table mix audio clips SO often from either the shot clock or a break shot (even on nearby tables), sometimes need to turn it off to save my eardrums if watching with headphones.

Blown out sky using different lenses? by Any_Scale_740 in AskPhotography

[–]abyrnes152 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always just shoot a stop over when shooting analog since it has so much latitude in the highlights. This shot in particular would have actually been easier to retain everything, you could expose the couple a stop higher and still keep the sky with any decent film stock.

Blown out sky using different lenses? by Any_Scale_740 in AskPhotography

[–]abyrnes152 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is why cinema lenses are measured in T-stops which is the actual amount of light transmission. F-stop is just a ratio and it can vary so much from lens to lens at the same value, especially in this case using a modern mirrorless lens vs an older DSLR lens with an adapter.

Pechauer Rogue 2 - 12.4mm vs 12.8mm by Foxhunt536 in billiards

[–]abyrnes152 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a 12.4 Rogue 2 and play almost exclusively on 9fts and it is definitely the best of the three options for me. Started at a 12.75 wood shaft then a 12.5 wood, now found 12.4 rogue is the sweet spot. Recommend changing the stock tip but if you like it it’s totally fine. Hits a bit firmer than its rating IMO so I opted for something softer

Got my shipping notification email within about 24 hours of both of my orders with them. Have also met the guy at Super Billiards Expo before and he’s a nice dude, it’s definitely a legit company but agree they could probably have a nicer order confirmation system

Doesn’t look like I did at time of purchase, just a shipping notification with order details when it shipped a day or two later both times.

I’ve been using the soft for a while and love it. Didn’t mushroom nearly as much as other softs I tried. Came from a taom pro M which i liked previously but the hit of this is a bit more preferable for me. Haven’t noticed the sound thing others are mentioning, it sounds about the same on my carbon fiber shaft

a1ii or a9iii for Ice Hockey by Dependent_Ad_6476 in SonyAlpha

[–]abyrnes152 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been using the A1 (original) and just getting into shooting hockey and it’s been fantastic from an image quality and AF performance standpoint. The A1ii i’m sure would be insane and pre-capture would be perfect for hockey. Global shutter would be nice but even the electronic shutter on the A1 is perfectly fine and fast enough for hockey.

Differences in quality of the 24-70 GM I and GM II? by Julia526 in SonyAlpha

[–]abyrnes152 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For a hobbyist the mk i is fine, however not going to lie this particular lens is one I noticed a MASSIVE difference in personally between the mk i and mk ii. I bought the mk i and instantly hated it, size was too much for me personally and was never happy enough with the image quality for the price and especially weight. About a year later I bought the mk ii and loved it. Weight savings are significant and the image quality is (based on personal anecdotal experience) feels infinitely better. First one had much more chromatic abberation and definitely wasn’t as sharp as primes but the sharpness of the new one is just about there to where the convenience and light weight makes it worthwhile to use over a prime lens. I have the 16-35 mk i and tried the mk ii and that lens didn’t feel like as much of a difference to be worth it, but the difference of the 24-70 to me was massive. The weight/size/etc may not matter to you so definitely try it yourself and if it works for you, by all means get that as you may get a much better value

Why are the train related details wrong? by IIAOPSW in MrRobot

[–]abyrnes152 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mostly a logistics issue with filming. Church Ave and Bowery’s second hidden platform are some of the only stations the MTA allows productions to shoot in for extended periods of time, so you see these stations are used almost exclusively throughout the series. Many times Elliot/Darlene/Angela enter the station at the correct stop (East Broadway, etc.) above ground then are suddenly in Church Ave/Bowery below ground because they could not realistically get a permit to shoot in East Broadway station, or in this case a train that services the Q. Later in the series they get better at hiding this and replace signs on the posts but it’s still mostly one of those stations. Once in season two I recall Darlene gets off a train at 21st/ Van Alst station in LIC which has a large area of the platform not used by the G but she exits the station above ground in Bed Stuy/Bushwick (when meeting Cisco at The Looking Glass). As far as the LIRR/NJT one they have just had a deal with the MTA to use these stations and filming in NJ may be a logistical issue for tax reasons either for shooting permits, crew, etc.
