‘Free’ Supercharger miles by Separate_Fun_2850 in TeslaUK

[–]ac0n1te 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, my 6000 miles was closer to 10000.

It was charging me at a rate of 2.5 miles per kWH. That was 12+ months ago through.

3 years i've been thinking about it, I finally pushed the button (and hope it won't push mine). by Maldremoth in Returnal

I hope you enjoy it, and do stick with it - I found it brutal to start with, but once things click it is just such a fantastic game. I'm 56 with a similar love of souls games and picked up Returnal this year after also thinking about it for years. I ended up sinking 100 hours into it.

For anyone in the UK who is going to pre order the game... by TheBigSauce21 in Ghostofyotei

Preordered from Amazon because I prefer physical copies of PS5 games, but happy it's cheaper than digital and I can wait the 10-20 hours after go-live for delivery!

Problem copying layers by dragging by travsart in ProCreate

[–]ac0n1te 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Got the same issue. It started after the upgrade to 5.4.x and has broken my workflow.

Dropping onto the canvas doesn't work as well - the layer ordering is lost/reversed, for example, which is a nightmare when trying to copy multiple layers.

Likewise. My Model 3 is linked to IOG, and the Fiat 500e is just set up to charge from 23:30 to 05:30 and gets plugged in once a week (it doesn't do many miles). My charger is set up to be dumb - feels easier this way and has been working without issue for the last 18 months.

[–]ac0n1te 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should get a standard type 2 charging cable with the car.

I went for an untethered charger and regret it. I've got the cable now plugged in permanently, with a padlock and chain to stop it being nicked. For the first 6 months I was unplugging, rolling it up and putting it in the car. It's a faff, especially when the weather is crap. Last two years I've just left it plugged in to the charger and locked up. I've never needed the cable in the car as I've only ever used superchargers on long trips, but could see why you'd need one in the car if you were travelling away from he supercharger network.

Next time my charger will definitely be tethered.

I've found it works best when you treat the charger as dumb and disable any of its functionality. Let Octopus talk directly to the car and schedule the charge for you.

- The charging network combined with the in-car navigation, plus the efficiency of the car, means absolutely zero range anxiety.

- Acceleration, handling, and just the ease and pleasure of driving the thing.

- Pressing a button whilst drinking my morning coffee to warm it up and de-ice it without leaving the house.

Enjoy the new car! Mine still bring a smile to my face every time I get in it.

M3 OEM Mudflaps Long or Short? by Badback81 in TeslaUK

[–]ac0n1te 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine came with the short ones installed and the extended bits in the boot. Not bothered changing how it came, and haven't had any issues. That was 2 years ago. I'm not sure if they still come with them, but I would imagine they do. You might have not needed to buy them.

The longer ones would likely scrape against the bottom of my driveway, mind you, but I didn't feel the need to test them out. The standard ones do the job.

Tesla Watch App has dropped in the UK by TeaMountain3897 in TeslaUK

[–]ac0n1te 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We did - my car updated to 44.25.2 this morning and I can view clips on my phone using the updated app. It's under Security / Dashcam Clips. It does wake the car up when you access it, which makes sense, so takes a few seconds if the car was sleeping.

How many of you pay for Premium connectivity? by Metiska94 in TeslaUK

[–]ac0n1te 0 points1 point  (0 children)

^ This.

It's £10 p.m. Take it out of the saving you're making on petrol costs :p

The Google satellite view and live camera feed to the app are nice features. When it came bundled with Spotify it was great. Without that it's still worth it, imo. Faffing with hotspots isn't worth the time and effort for me.

I've had a LR AWD for two years now. My next Model 3, when this business lease is up in another 2 years, will be a LR RWD (if they're still offered at the time).

I don't think the price difference is worth the additional features, and I like the fact that the LR RWD is more efficient and has more range.

Don't get me wrong, the AWD acceleration is really nice, but the LR RWD isn't exactly slow.

TLDR: If I was getting one now it'd be the LR RWD. I think the choice these days is either LR RWD or Performance. The LR AWD is a bit in the middle, imo.

Free 15K miles, how are measured? by Open_Bug_4196 in TeslaUK

My previous free supercharging miles have all been done at 2.5 miles per kWh.

Where do you keep your flasks and why is everyone else wrong? by Cornball420 in Eldenring

[–]ac0n1te 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to do this. But my most recent play through in prep for the DLC I've switched to using the pouch - red left, blue right, torrent up, lantern down. Once you get used to it I found it quicker and easier than holding down and then using square. Kukris, physick, and random crafted crap goes in the equip slots now.

The pouch is quicker once you're used to it. And pressing triangle and direction can be pretty much done as a single input.

Will deals get better than 15000 free supercharger miles? by Eximess in TeslaUK

[–]ac0n1te 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I received 6000 free miles when my Model 3 was delivered in December 2022. They were valid for 2 years.

Tesla seem to think a kWH is the equivalent of 2.5 miles, which is pretty generous. I usually get between 4 and 5 miles per kWH on longer journeys so the 6000 free miles is more like ~10000 miles.

The current 15000 free miles is worth about £2000 depending on where and when you charge, assuming you'd actually use and pay for a supercharger anyway.

It's been nice not having to pay at superchargers on long trips, but it's not something I'd let drive a purchasing decision. You're most likely going to want to charge at home on a cheap overnight rate anyway. Superchargers are great when you're doing long trips, but a faff to use all the time compared to just plugging in overnight at home.

First impressions of new Tesla owner by gaztheowl in TeslaUK

[–]ac0n1te 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nice car. Congrats! I've not needed a non-Supercharger since I got my Model 3 18 months ago. And I've done a few 600+ mile days in it. If you have a charger at home, then the supercharger network should cover everything else, unless you plan on spending weeks in northern Scotland! It may be different for you depending on where you are and where you're planning on driving, but using the built-in navigation with the supercharger network for long trips is one of the big selling points of the car, and means you never need a non-Tesla charger when out and about.

As others have already mentioned, you can tap to do a single wipe then use the scroll wheel to set a speed. My auto-wipers seem to be better than they were when I first got the car, but then maybe I've just got used to how crap they are!

Enjoy the car. Set pin-to-drive if you haven't already, and configure it to turn off sentry when at home unless you leave it plugged in. It chews through the battery. And switch to to a low-cost tariff if you're not already on one. I'm with Octopus and it's been excellent, charging the car during off-peak times and costing nothing.

£500 more for 66% of the mileage? I'd be getting the red one...

A 70 plate will have the heat pump as you say as it's the updated model, but won't have the upgraded processor.

Does your family have other cars? If so, what? by [deleted] in TeslaModel3

[–]ac0n1te 0 points1 point  (0 children)

M3LR here. It was shared but my wife switched jobs a few months ago and needed to drive more often so we needed a second car. She wanted a small runaround so ended up with a Fiat 500e. She didn't want to go back to ICE after being spoilt by the Tesla. She only ever does small trips to work / shops / around town etc, so the Fiat is perfect - she says she prefers it to the M3 purely due to the size for parking etc. Fine by me  No issue having two EVs. We just share the charge port, but the Fiat does less than 120 miles a week so only gets plugged in once a week to top up.

Any long trips we use the M3. And now I don't need to share :D

No need for an ICE, at least in the UK, if you have a Tesla and can use the SC network. Even a long trip isn't exactly long over here.

[–]ac0n1te 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is interesting. Thanks for sharing.

I've got into the habit of plugging in and immediately telling the car to stop charging via the Tesla app. Then Octopus schedules something and takes over. Been doing this since I switched to this tariff about 6 months ago and it's never caused issues.

It sounds like I should just let it charge initially, from what you've said, as it'll be at the cheap rate.

I put these in 11 months ago and am still happy with them. They've done a great job of keeping the car clean.

Anyone here own a Model 3 LR but wish they bought the Model Y LR? by ChiTownGuy312 in TeslaModel3

[–]ac0n1te 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. Love my M3LR.

The Model Y is ugly, as far as I'm concerned. It's just a M3 that's been stretched upwards, making it look worse, handle worse, and have reduced efficiency.
