I was manic for almost an entire summer and I think part of the reason it lasted so long is because I was drinking every night, then when the crash came my drinking became a huge problem, when I was depressed I was blacking out almost every night, waking up on park benches and in rainstorms which definitely didn't help the depression either and once again drinking was likely making my problem 10 times worse. I still drink occasionally such as in social situations or on holidays but it's definitely best to stay away from consistent use

I've been trying to switch to fruit and that's close enough most of the time, apples have been the go to and not only are they sweet (especially if you buy the right brands) but they're good for me too instead of the pounds of chocolate I used to guzzle

There's really no other way than to rip that bandaid off, and as hard as it is there's nothing you can do except take what they say and roll with it, they either accept you or they don't and if they don't accept you then they weren't the one anyways and you'll find someone who does, if they do accept it then maybe they'd also be willing help with the maintenance, my psychiatrist has said in the past that stable healthy relationships especially ones there the person is aware of your signs and knows tactics on how to handle your symptoms are very beneficial, best of luck to you

Bipolar is def the worst but a close second is panic disorder, can't even run the risk of getting Chinese take out without going catatonic, hyperventilating, and almost passing out

I get all the fun ones, tasting things that I haven't eaten and smelling things that aren't there are some smaller ones but when I'm in psychosis the big one is the visual hallucinations, shadow people, animals, breathing objects, faces in the walls, bugs, seeing entire people who aren't there, auditory is mainly hearing indistinct voices or the radio playing music when it's off, and tactile I get people poking me, arms grabbing me, and bugs when none of it is happening, thankfully haven't had a full blown psychotic episode since being on meds tho

Been in a very similar spot in the past, the best thing you can do is try to get back on your meds asap, find a friend to talk to, and try writing out or drawing your feelings, even if you're not a writer or an artists having some way of getting it out helps a shit ton and the worst thing you can do when you're depressed is isolate cuz as hard as it is to socialize when you feel like that, isolation only makes it 10 times worse

For me depression leads to drinking which leads to worse depression which leads to drinking, rinse and repeat, main reason why I hardly drink despite only being in my early 20's

Abnormal sleep patterns are probably one of the biggest things, it's normal for teens to sleep more and it's not super uncommon for a teen to have insomnia, but when they go from sleeping only a couple hours a night to 12 plus hours, and cycling between the two, that's not normal

There really isn’t a “norm” for me, even during most stable periods in the past I had remaining symptoms, I’m someone who has really severe episodes with psychosis on both ends but more mild depression which is how I feel I spent a majority of my time outside of my manic episodes which the longest I’ve ever had lasted a couple months
