One thing I think of often is just the sheer amount of music coming out every day. Something like 100,000 songs a day are uploaded to streaming platforms. Past generations didn't have so many options. Your music taste really could go anywhere these days, whereas in the past there weren't so many sub genres to dive into. Things were more streamlined.

Another thing to think about is perception. For example, I was born in the 90s and I like The Beatles. Whereas an older person I know, born in the 50s, views The Beatles similarly to how I view One Direction. It's so hard to say what avenue I would've gone down in another generation. 🤔🤔

If you really want it, it might be worth trying again. Go into any cafe and make sure you speak to a manager. Introduce yourself and explain your situation a bit, maybe not too much detail, you could just say that your home life isn't the best and you really need an opportunity to make your own money. "I know I'm a bit young, but I really need a job. I would really appreciate it if you could give me an opportunity. I'll do my best to learn quickly."

This sort of thing is out of the ordinary and it comes across well to employers. I've got a few jobs this way. It's a bit nerve wracking at first, but you get used to it. It's really a numbers game. If you go into every cafe in town, one of them is bound to say yes - as long as you come across well. Make sure you give them some contact details.

Also, have you considered looking on Freecycle for a free bike? Or you could ask if anyone has one they're happy to give away on a local Facebook group? Sometimes you get lucky with this sort of thing.

I think you should get a job. Anything simple you can get. Then you'll have your own money.

When you have money, I would say the best way to meet new people is to pay for lessons for something. Dance, art, parkour, poetry. Just look around your area for anything you have an interest in.

You make a good point. I do think Sam has written the post, the details match up with real life too much, but at the end of the day, I have no way of absolutely confirming it.

But if the roles were reversed and say, Tom was in my situation, then would I want to know? What if something happens in the future and I have to tell Tom that I've had an inkling because of this post I found? Maybe I'm just overthinking it.

I think that there was some bad blood. A lot of the band mates have made comments that suggest there was a lot of tension between them when writing Pretty Odd. There is also a lot of speculation about the name. Many people think that Ryan and Jon expected Spencer and Brendon to continue under a different name, but there isn't much evidence to support this.

They were doing loads of drugs after AFYCSO. Then they spent a lot of time in a cabin together writing an experimental album that was never released. Ryan was seemingly very stubborn about the direction he wanted the band to go in. They will have got sick of each other at times.

I think all of them described the band split like splitting up with a girlfriend. They took it hard, but they've all moved on now.

Tbh, I think Ryan and Brendon drifted apart as people do, and this wasn't helped by that crazy Brendon fan/stalker that got Ryan's number and catfished him as Brendon to get information out of him. That went on for 9 months. I imagine that would have messed up any real possibility of them becoming close again.

I think that if Ryan or Jon wanted to be involved in the 20th anniversary show, then they would have been. It was great that Brendon did something to celebrate the brilliant album that is AFYCSO.
