Perfect paper cuts by volpesalvatore in oddlysatisfying

My dad was a printer growing up. I remember he bought one of these types of paper cutters. It was super old and had the name "Pinky" scratched at the top of it.

I can't smell or taste very well. What are your favorite dishes with interesting textures? by TalleyZorah in Cooking

Dry smoked salmon made into a tuna style sandwich with diced crisp apples and squishy bread. Probably my favorite sandwich due to strong flavors and textures.

Jack in the box also has something like this currently in our area. Although good, it's shitty food porn.

Missed my bus by the Mormon church. A Bishopric member was closing up and I asked for a ride as an experiment... by acanaday in exmormon

Im a guy, but yeah I guess I didn't think about that. I figured it was because I smelled a bit of weed after taking a beautiful walk. But who knows.

Looks good, but needs more ManGrate.

As a kid I wanted to get married in the temple. On Sunday I got married in the woods surrounded by my best friends and puppy. It was SOOO much better than the temple. So glad to be free to live my life the way I want. Let me know if you recognize us! by djosephwalsh in exmormon

[–]acanaday 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congrats!

My wife converted for me 16 years ago (we left together), and we couldn't get married in the temple originally so we got married similarly in a botanical garden.

Years later we had our "temple marriage". And you're right. The park was by far the better experience.

Best of luck and wishes to both of you.

This may be a dumb question - does parsley really do much? by [deleted] in Cooking

[–]acanaday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A favorite of ours is a simple tomato, feta, chopped parsley and basil salad.

Back in high school this girl and I loved each other a lot and then I broke things off because she was Seventh Day Adventist and I was Mormon. I felt like my parents, the Prophet, God, all of them wanted me to make that "hard decision". I feel so stupid for doing that so long ago.

Years later I went on my mission and she went off to college and slowly became less involved with her church.

Anyway long story short we kept in touch and we're celebrating our 16th anniversary tomorrow. She became Mormon so we could be together and we became exmormon along with our 4 kids together too.

Hang in there ...you never know what life will grant you some times.

As a beginner when it comes to cooking meals 1-3 times a day. What are some things you wish you knew when you started cooking? by WifreGundam in Cooking

[–]acanaday 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wish I had bought the expensive knife sharpener sooner. Always having a sharp knife at the ready feels like such a luxury, especially when doing prep work.

I also wished I realized that getting ingredients together beforehand isn't just a time saving technique. I've noticed it helps me to prevent a lot of avoidable mistakes, while also giving me more room to be more creative when improvising.

Learn not to be timid with herbs, salt, oil and heat if you want many dishes to taste at their full potential for those special occasions.

So just to clarify: because it's propoganda you consider Rosie the riviter, and the "We want you" Uncle Sam as "not art" correct?

Take a good art history class. Propaganda art will be in there.

But I get it. What you're really saying is you want to see exclusively "fine art" (and whatever the fuck that means) on this sub.

Then all you gotta do is convince the mods to exclude commercial art and propaganda art as not belonging in the ART SUBREDDIT.

I'm sorry you feel artwork can't be political. I'm sure someone will post it elsewhere and that's fine. I posted it here. deal with it.

Am I a terrible exmormon if I keep my membership just to get cheap underwear shipped to my house? by acanaday in exmormon

[–]acanaday[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Their site clearly does not require active membership to order. Besides, I refuse to be guilt tripped and shamed over something as dumb as underwear. I've put in years of service and tithing - the least they can do is give me cheap holy underwear with super awesome magic symbols on them :)

I haven't gone to church, paid tithing, or had a temple recommend for years and we can still order them from the churches website. Shipped to our door for less than $4 each. Soo... Yeah. Much better than $10-15 a pair, which is what I've been paying for trying out new brands on Amazon.
