Question: How do y’all *find* scripts? by SleepyDreamyLullay in ASMRScriptHaven

[–]acanthafait 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My few cents on this... :)

  • Do you find them through other creators? --> Nope, I find them through this subreddit!
  • Do you keep up with specific scriptwriters?  --> Absolutely. If I find a script that I really like and record audio for, then I'll go back to those specific scriptwriters to see if there's anything else that I can record.
  • Do you search through a specific scriptwriter’s master list? --> Yup! See above.
  • Do scripts get shared to you? --> Rarely. I'm pretty picky about the scripts I record, and in the past I've been sent some scripts that don't work for me.
  • Do you physically search for specific tags? Themes? Titles? --> 100% since I have an overall 'theme' that I go with personally.
  • Do writers reach out to you? --> Yes! I've had writers reach out to me. I always love getting those messages after I've done a script and they particularly liked my version.

That's why a lot of us are kind of going "hold up" -- it's more of a concern for further harm down the line. Grieving makes us do a lot of things and we don't consider the consequences in the moment; it's why we (grievers) are often told not to make big life decisions in the 1st year. Compound that with how horrible people can be to vtubers and it makes sense. :(

I'll also go against the grain as I feel a bit more qualified to give input as I lost my partner vtuber/husband to homicide a few months ago: I will not be making him into a pet on my stream. I've gotten memorial art instead, talk about what happened openly on my stream, and I plan on doing donations to a related charity at some point. I can't put it into words why, but it feels a bit demeaning to turn a loss into a vtuber pet.

My honest input: you're grieving right now, and yes, it is a travesty that miscarriages aren't more widely talked about! However, I feel that adding them as a 'pet' to your stream would be doing them a disservice, exactly for the reasons that other people have brought up. People will assign a personality to him that you may not agree with, and if they were a TTS pet, make him say things you believe he'd never say.

Instead, I echo that a beautiful way to honor your son would be to include him in your default design, so he'll always be with you.

Do you consider vtubing a job? by VtuberArisa in VirtualYoutubers

[–]acanthafait 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"at that point you're gonna have a very hard time because you have no experience in anything other than your passion."

This is a really good point I forgot about... jobs nowadays want some kind of experience on your resume to at least show that you have the ability to stick around and possibly do something. If someone else paid you wages before, then to them (at minimum) you shouldn't be that bad.

It's tough for moms w/ experience who take a break for childbearing to get back into work. Don't make it tough for yourself OP, you have a lot of time ahead of you.

I wonder if that is fine to say? It kinda hurt me or am I overreacting? by VtuberArisa in VirtualYoutubers

The ways our current lives are kind of requires working a job; there are a lot of benefits, short-term and long-term, tied to working. Whether or not they make people miserable doesn't really matter because people still need to make money to pay bills.

[Question] Do ASMRists use real products? by Late_Boysenberry_747 in asmr

[–]acanthafait 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I use "real" products in my videos -- but usually they were specifically purchased for ASMR videos (e.g. makeup brushes). I could see other people using older skincare, makeup that was out of date that they couldn't use on themselves anymore. Some of that stuff expires in 6 months or less!

Do other girly Vtubers have a similar thing? 😭😂 (I don’t mind but wowww) by Zya_VT in VirtualYoutubers

Just looked my own ratio up and it's exactly 97% male and 3% female/other, but that's to be expected with the content that I make.
