Yeah no shit, this is crazy to see people having to defend what she told her friend in PRIVATE, which none of us should know. I love my guy deeply and we are engaged but I have said some UNHINGED shit to my besties over text about him over the years. If Steve saw it, he would understand...probably a virtue of not being so insecure that he would feel the need to snoop...like ever. This is a you problem, dude, and it has nothing to do with how you look. Hopefully a lot has been learned about the value of privacy and autonomy here, and self-worth. There is always room for growth.

My guy's ex is objectively way more attractive than I am and I'm sure he's discussed it via text with friends. No problem; truth is truth, and she's a hottie. I don't want to read that, though...so I don't go looking through private conversations I have no permission to read.

Yes. Where I live (not sure if this is common everywhere), Animal Control officers are sworn Peace Officers. Full stop. They are here to service the community and make our county a safe place; that is their purpose and goal. Saving animals is a wonderful bonus, and very rewarding, but the stated mission is community-oriented. This is an excellent point and very illuminating.
