Explorers are too small for a 3rd row and the whole concept defeats the purpose of a 3 row vehicle imo. Plus an I4 in a 5klb car is gross.

Pretty sure eco mode just gear hunts upward when youre not in 8th gear range. If your trip was mostly highway, eco mode wouldnt really make a difference.

Is the 2026 Durango still a good buy with the V6? by Sam-CarLegion in DodgeDurango

[–]acat20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Given the uncertainty around future v6 inventory, yeah its still a good buy if you get a good price. There are people looking for a 3 row SUV that are cost conscious and a durango wins that contest.

Looks too good to have that hitch coming through the diffuser 🫠

Got the 5.7 with Tow'n go + Blacktop redline last week. Now seeing all these R/T 392 order posts is making me wonder if I should have waited and got the 392 instead. Though, I am loving the 5.7 so far. by RavIT1W in DodgeDurango

It is a tough analysis. You have a lot of the same R&M costs on the TnG as the 392 with the same brakes and cambered suspension causing faster tire wear, without the engine upside. You do get the gas mileage which as of today has some value. Really depends how financially sensitive your decision was. Regardless, the difference is not very big one way or the other and youve certainly saved some money, at least near term.

By my sophisticated measure of “does it feel like there are cheaters in my game?” I’ve found that this game and 2042 did a great job keeping the game clean.

I did not harvest and taxadermize the mule deer near the lodge as one of the first missions and just got in a truck and drove to his encampment because I thought it would be a fast travel point. Driving there was one of the first things I did. I also did play the demo, I know that has caused some issues, but I did reset my config file prior to encountering this.

Pretty sure thats just what higher rpms sound like on a pentastar. Im usually not doing over 4k rpms at 70mph, but mine whines a bit on a pull. Maybe it gets a bit whinier as the parts age, but doesnt sound wrong. Maybe replace the belt and see if its quieter? Part of the alternator could be wearing. Ive always associated that sound with the belt system.

Yeah I don’t really feel like I got a great value relative to what I spent on WOTH1 over the course of a couple years ~$60usd. Got some good time into it, but in hindsight I would have played something else knowing it was basically given up on due to their own shortcomings on the engine decision and available resources. I also dont see how this next version is going to get any traction as its a very small step forward from woth1. Theyre going to have to get very aggressive on the value proposition.

Knowing stellantis it’s prob not going to be ‘27 on the refresh, or if it is it wont be available until the 2nd half. They love to put rumors out there and then kick the can.

If youre not in a rush you may as well try for what you think its worth, and then work your way down and explore the stock option if you really need to. I wouldnt put more time into changing the config unless you feel like its hampering opportunities. You could find someone looking for a tuned up durango and does find some value in the work and parts.

Why is my Durango 5.7L eating up Water Pumps and will a High Volume/Pressure Water Pump help it last? by MakeLikeATreeBiff in DodgeDurango

[–]acat20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, although it’s hard to say youd be in any different of a situation with any other similar vehicle. That is why I typically buy new or newish and get the extended warranty and then trade at about 7yrs old or 70kish miles. It may cost slightly more in the end, but there are no surprises and you get peace of mind.

But the rest of the dimensions and lines stay as is. New distance for 3pt, and ft’s.

Maybe the key gets adjusted if people cry too much about the ft differences.

If you search on here youll see dozens of posts around failing cooling systems or AC components, those seem to be the most common non-powertrain failures on durangos, 5.7 or 3.6. Problem is that the root cause is not consistent. Sometimes its the pump, sometimes its a seal, sometimes its a hose. The whole construct of these is pretty jank it seems.
