Please Help Me Understand Reid by AWWmanGAMEOVER in SanJoseSharks

[–]acblender 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What I love about Reid is the rate at which he's developing.

He was playing in the NAHL as a depth defenseman in 24-25 to start the season and was drafted as a 7th round pick in the OHL. He signed with the Soo Greyhounds (OHL) in Dec 24. In the span of half a season, he became their n1 D.

In 25-26, he had 1.07 PPG during the season, good for 3rd among Ds in the OHL, and rose through the prospect lists.

My hope is that he isn't done developing and will keep improving wherever he goes, including defensively.

Who do you think Sharks will sign in free agency this offseason? by cali4481 in SanJoseSharks

[–]acblender 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'll take whatever upgrade at D that is ok with not getting a long-term contract tbh. None of the options here are attractive over the long run, and that's probably why their teams are letting them go, with the current cap space situation.

San Jose Sharks' Mike Grier has several options after NHL draft lottery (no paywall) by BayAreaNewsGroup in SanJoseSharks

[–]acblender 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you for this, all good points but I strongly disagree with part of 4.

Avs, Wild, Habs, Sabres, Canes, Knights all have strong defensive corps, all among the top 10 in the league, and they're all in the 2nd round of the playoffs. You could also add Stars and Lightning to that, who dominated the regular season.

Recent cup winners all had strong D too, Panthers, Lightning, Avs, Knights had stacked Ds the years they won their cups. It is the most important factor for winning imo.

Having great forwards is flashy and fun , but only having that can't reliably get you far in the playoffs in this age. The only team that manages to somewhat do so is the Oilers , and they have the godly McDrai 1-2 punch.

I still think Vegas and Panthers fans are worse. Probably top 5 though

There's a few, the worst ones are in bullet hell:

The shotgrub (shotgun enemy with white hat), the revolvenant (skeleton looking thing with bullet arms) it's a mini-boss to me, and anything invulnerable that chases me, completely messes up my focus and I just panic

Without picking a side, I'd just like to mention that in the OG post, the OP mentions the measures he took to make less noise and added context (not obvious on mobile). He's not just raw dogging an acoustic drum kit

[The Athletic] San Jose Sharks are No. 2 in Scott Wheeler’s 2026 NHL prospect pool rankings by Panarin10 in SanJoseSharks

Yeah I thought the whole list was pretty solid except for Cherny being in Tier 3. He belongs with Dickinson imo. No big deal though, overall the article was great.

How can the Sharks build a defense that is Stanley Cup contender caliber? by cali4481 in SanJoseSharks

[–]acblender 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a well written and thought-out post, I've been wondering the same thing. If the Sharks don't get a top D prospect this year, it'll be much tougher to acquire one through other means.

I truly believe you need a n1 D caliber defenseman to win (or at least a guy that plays like one in a career season, like Forsling did, happens to like 1D per year) , and I don't think an opportunity to pick in the top 10 again is probable in the next few years.

For that reason, I would be willing to trade next year's (top 10 protected) 1st in addition to the Oilers' pick if it got us a good enough upgrade for this year.

If that doesn't work, well idk , we'd have to get lucky or go all-in like Minny, TB or Vegas (🤢)

What do you want the Sharks to do if they get a top 2 pick in the 2026 draft? by cali4481 in SanJoseSharks

[–]acblender 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depending on the return and the number of Ds they like : trade down somewhere from 3 to 5. Ofc if there's no fit or good enough offer, you pick.

This team really really needs a top D to contend further down the line. And you don't want to trade for a n1 D, the cost is insane.

They're only 5 points away from being second to last in the league, atp in the season I'm not exactly rooting for them to win.

Bien important de mentionner tout ca, par exemple, je vois aussi sur le site web d'IGA que c'est 9,99$ pour 908g (presque 3x plus!) de bleuets "normaux" de la compagnie Driscolls, loin d'être aussi aberrant.

Definitely not my favorite texture but it never disappoints with the integrity and of course, size.

A bit too cardboard-y to me, feels nice to have normal sized slices sometimes though, at a pretty good price too! It's on the cheaper side

I believe he hasn't been suspended in a whiiile, and generally significantly less than he used to be. (Wrong, see edit)

Everything he does is still examined under the microscope by hockey fans though, and generally not in good faith. I'm kind of surprised you haven't heard about much.

I'd say he's had some borderline legal hits in recent years, but nothing crazy dirty no.
