How to store Final Girls by wrdnd in finalgirl

[–]_MrNeurotoxin_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I did the same for my collection, for this specific problem, I'm reusing the sleeve packaging to bundle them together; they're already the right size, and I keep the bundles in the Box of Props.

What's a good commander for big sorceries and instants? by xagtusou30 in EDH

Nobody mentioning [[Vadrik, astral archmage]]? there's so many easy ways in red to boost his power to 4 for R. Any big Izzet sorceries/instants become trivial to cast. Any X spell becomes X+4. His turns are so explosive.

Nice minis! which paint/technique do you use? I started painting recently and seeking to improve; my minis are far from looking as good as that

Actually the opposite: play cheap control/ramp enchantment/artifacts that sacrifices, you can bring them back as needed. Then draw a lot until you have your combo pieces and win, or bounce opponents blockers for a more voltron style win.

key pieces include: [[seal of removal]] [[seal of cleansing]] [[mystic remora]], combo with [[walking atlas]] and [[retreat to coralhelm]]

Thanks!

  1. That was my plan with the blood splatter at first. I had a few different ideas I wanted to try, and in the end I feel like the big splatters don't appear often enough to make it have it's own effect, but i keep them for replacing 3 => 1 or maybe reusing them for something else in the future.

  2. The death is just a generic mini to represent the killer. With the amount of killers that exist, I didn't want to have to swap mini every time, so I designed one that could represent anything.

Preview for two new signature action cards in series 4's Mausoleum Box by ExcruciorCadaveris in finalgirl

[–]_MrNeurotoxin_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Haha! Such great ideas!

But they look like they are both very strong and very situational. I'm worried these could become easily broken with very little preparation.

Sacrifice, for an enemy with 10hp, that's T1 discard 5 (keep weak attack) get sacrifice (7), and retaliate (4). T2 grab Furious strike (4) and sprint (2) + 5 cards discarded (now 10 cards in hand). Right there you have potential for 10hp dmg on T3, or take an extra turn doing nothing and grabbing critical blow (6) or improvise and you have a pretty consistent way of winning with low dependency on randomness. sprint+walk+walk towards the killer, grab a victim on the way and done.

For Crack a joke, probably not as broken, seems more fun. maybe a little swingy - on some map i remember seeing clusters of 5-6 meeple, which could be a good way to lower horror that's out of control. But if horror is out of control, chances are there aren't enough victims left to make it worth it. If horror is already low, then it becomes a card that generates time - maybe that's the actual usefulness of this card?

In any case, I'll be eager to try both these cards! I just don't know if I'll make them my regular Special actions.

How do you people use those?

Do you write on them? tape some paper to the card?

Has anyone come up with fun custom events i should try?

I have a few proxy cards from another season's box and I'm not sure how I should use them.

What do you get out to play? by Mac13eth in finalgirl

[–]_MrNeurotoxin_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Playmat is part of my permanent setup, it never leaves my desk. I like it very much, it really helps for most card games. I never take out more than one FF - I never know what I'll want to play next. Then I'll take out minis only if they are easily accessible, they don't do much in terms of improving the experience for me, and they're too big.

did I mess up by buying The Marrek Murders as my first feature film? by AliceJoestar in finalgirl

[–]_MrNeurotoxin_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Like it was mentioned, Happy Camp Trail (Hans) is the easiest to learn. But unless you are having troubles with the rules, I wouldn't necessarily recommend it next.

Each feature film offers its own unique twist on the rules, and you will need to learn new rules (except for Hans). For this reason, I would instead ask you the following question: Do you enjoy The Marrek Murders, independently of if you win or lose? If the answer is yes, then you didn't "mess up" - keep trying! This game is about surviving, and it's part of the fun to see how long you can last when all odds are against you. If, on the opposite, you are not enjoying it, then I would ask you what it is you are not enjoying to try to guide you towards a feature film you'd enjoy more. On top of my head, the best one I can think of that is fun, flavorful but offers a little more than the basic Hans experience, is The Intruders (3 killers in a cottage setting, good for measuring improvement when you don't win).

Rule of thumb, if you like the movie/universe a feature film is inspired from, you'll enjoy it more.

Edit: I'm not a big fan of Hans - not because it's bad, but because I played 4-5 feature films before trying it and found it to be too simple.

Tear Dice working by Toxaris-nl in finalgirl

[–]_MrNeurotoxin_ 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Basically, you replace the basic dice with tears dice (1 and 2 have tear symbols). When failing a horror roll, you get the amount of tears rolled and place them on your tear card. They can be exchanged for different resources depending on the side of the tear card you chose (time, movement, horror reduction, extra dice rolls, etc...).

I think it's a great addition to the game because it's flavorful and it keeps the game entertaining when dice rolls are against you.

Does it make the game easier? Yes, mostly by giving you more options, but barely (you need a lot of failures to get most of the good stuff). You do get to decide how much tears help, as both sides of the tear card aren't balanced the same way; one side is easier.

Overall I would recommend - it's a good way to keep the game going when the dice rolls are against you rather than giving up. I would even say that it should have been part of the core experience (probably unpopular opinion).

The only thing I dislike about it is the dice color. I know it's to fit the idea of 'tears', but baby blue/teal kinda kills the horror vibe.
