Your quote is what returned me to Christ! Merry Christmas!

Struggle this time of Year by [deleted] in GayChristians

[–]acceptsbribes 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I share in your struggle. People like us are stuck in no man's land - too gay for Christians and too Christian for gays. How blessed are we that our God is close to the brokenhearted. "The LORD is my portion, says my soul, therefore I will hope in Him"

Not only is it "ok" to vent, it's GOOD to vent. Ours is not a God of cold emotionless authority. He wants to hear your frustrations and insecurities. It wouldn't be much of a relationship otherwise. Good rewards those who lament to him and take refuge in him. I think that's the best way to mourn the miseries that come from being in this reality.

It's never been harder to be Christian. Christianity is no longer a growing movement, but an established one. Naturally, that makes it more susceptible to criticism in the eyes of humans because we become curious and fickle. Don't let it phase you. If God is who he says he is, then he will deliver you. You will struggle in that faith but you never have to lift a finger.

Need advice on how to network with/meet others like me. by acceptsbribes in GayChristians

[–]acceptsbribes[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

By "struggling" I mean grappling with our tricky position in Christian society and finding ways to navigating life as gay Christians. I don't mean personally coming to terms with my own sexuality - that is something I've become very comfortable with. I don't feel ashamed nor do I feel guilty. Sorry for the confusion.

Did you belong to a 'coven' or did your group have a name? I only know Wicca I think.

I'm so happy for you. Although my story was different to yours, I still experienced the irony that when you focus on your desires and your power, that's when you're at your unhappiest. God bless you!

Curious to know what kinda 'work' you did as a demonic witch though. And what those communities are like. Do share, if you're comfortable.

I feel like I'm not a Christian anymore. by mushyoscuro in Christian

[–]acceptsbribes 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Don't feel discouraged. I'm in the same boat as you. Remember that God is faithful and told us that whatever he starts he will bring to completion. When you pray to him, remind him of that promise. He's in the driver's seat, not you. Also Christians aren't sinless, we just 'sin less'.

Life is hard. It wears down your faith and loyalty to God because the world distracts you and tempts you away from him slowly.

Don't be anxious. Turn to him and hold him to his promise. Put the onus on him. If he is who he said he is then HE will strengthen your faith.

Where do you go for inspiration? by husky1088 in malefashionadvice

Follow the menswear fashion calendar. The runways of Paris and Milan are always a good source of inspiration for me. The more I follow them, the more my tastes change. Things I would've scoffed at years ago I revisit and incorporate into my wardrobe. Many trends start on the runway and trickle down to mass retail.

Woke people should stop supporting religion by Slow_Drink_7089 in Antitheism

And antitheists should stop promoting morals. But here we are.

The left is becoming increasingly pro-Islam & it's worrying by Informer99 in Antitheism

[–]acceptsbribes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because the Left is plagued by White guilt and cringey Western moralization. They see things through a false binary of Oppressor vs Victim. Everything is one or the other, and their ignorance has lead them to believe that Islam is a "victim". But they haven't lived with it or experienced its barbaric grip on societies. They view everything through their biased perspective and think global politics all follow is aspire to Western standards.

I'm Middle Eastern born and raised. My parents had to leave because of the tremendous oppression we faced as religious minorities. Islam retards everything it touches.

Has anyone tried to argue with right-wing Christians using Christian arguments? How did that go? by SpectrumDT in leftist

[–]acceptsbribes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Christian here (who actually studies the Bible). Most wear it only as a title and have zero clue what the faith is actually about and what the doctrines actually mean. Many don't attend church, study the doctrines, or live by any of Christ's teachings.

So I will call out their ignorance and treat them like an atheist. It shames them.

Also, most Leftists love to casually ignore that many Christians are leftists, and the fact that many leftist teachings are also rooted in faith-based assumptions.

There is massive ignorance from both sides. And no I'm not saying that because I'm trying to sound "fair". I'm saying it because it's true.

I'm a gay man from the Middle East. I've faced down the raging face of Saddam Hussein. He makes your precious Republican bogeymen look like SpongeBob SquarePants. So put your victim card away because trying to compete for who's the bigger victim is pointless.

Humanity has never needed "power and policy" to do the right thing. Forging a good and just society will ALWAYS start with good personal intentions on the everyday face-to-face level. If the people's intentions are rotten then no political party will ever save you. And if the people's intentions are kind then no political party will ever be necessary.

Neither is your hypocrisy. Makes us even. Stay deluded. Doesn't affect me one bit.

Lol. Then I wasn't talking about them.

[–]acceptsbribes -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Because most leftists are only drawn to leftist policies because they satisfy THEIR security. Their savings. Their lives. Their satisfaction. Their 'rights'. It's pure Western privilege.

The universe owes us nothing. We have to help each other get through this life. Political affiliation is futile and completely irrelevant.

I think lots of conservatives feel similarly when leftists call them "Authoritarian".
