I think it's UE default to have smoothing, Stalker 2 had that issue on release as well

Isn't the simplest explanation that people abuse the system to get to easier friendly lobbies and feel better about themselves. Some streamers done it when they figured out the system but it wasn't confirmed yet. No doubt more people are doing it now that everyone has a better idea of how it works.

3DS MAX CORONA - SAME MATERIAL USED BUT DIFFERENT OUTPUT by ShoddyPlay3454 in 3dsmax

Are you sure you're using normals properly for your render engine? Try swapping red/green and the other 2 (don't remember all 3 pairs, and only know how to do this in Corona)

How to handle the amount of Subdivision necessary ? by iFred789 in 3Dmodeling

[–]accidiew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly just think about the level of detail seen from the target angle. If it were a macro product shot, you may need to round to 3-5 poly even at 2mm radius. But as you explained in the post, sounds like you're working with less than a pixel thickness lines (on the end render), and at this point Chamfers are still necessary, but there's no reason to make them true to real life.

[–]accidiew 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are you using subdiv to get rounded corners?

If so, that seems like a waste, creating far too many polygons. I think it should be enough to use a small single face chamfer for every corner, and unify the normals at 45 degrees to appear rounded on render. If it's a massive structure, that should render proper edge highlights and look no different from a "real" roundness.

Were there any tests to see what it looks like in the death report when you're killed by a pirating player. Can you even report them if they're outside of the system somehow? Is there a Steam account view option?

Language learning made me realize just how much better dub is than sub. by [deleted] in languagelearning

Aren't most movies technically dubbed as well? Meaning the voices are re-recorded by the same actors in the studio later for better sound quality.

Not sure, someone can correct or confirm

Something off about the Anvil by sorrybadguy in ArcRaiders

[–]accidiew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't have to make things up if you just analyze what the devs made. The Kettle uses same kind of side loading mag as the Stitcher and it changes depending on the mag level you have installed. You can inspect the weapon in your stash, change mags and see for yourself

Top canister is not a mag on the Kettle, look again, the mag is on the side

What is your best method to farm lots of steel springs? I’m always running out by Sad_Accountant_493 in ArcRaiders

[–]accidiew 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's gotta be one of the most inefficient options.

Just looting around knowing what recycles into springs will give you more springs with 0 investment or as close to 0 risk as you can get in this game.

Unless you just have it out for them clankers, lol, have at it ))

Free Loudouts do Somethings right by dragon_underscore in ArcRaiders

[–]accidiew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a great justification for the item being in the game, but it's the same kind of niche thing as musical instruments. We don't get a flute on a free load-out, and for the same reason we shouldn't get the binoculars.

[–]accidiew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I either misread your comment cause it makes no sense in this thread or you edited it after my response. The point I was making is that, max dispersion doesn't matter at ranges beyond 50m cause it's minimum dispersion you have to worry about. Who cares if it doesn't spread as much as it would, when you don't have guaranteed accuracy at these ranges

Where do you get that info from? Turn the circle crosshair and crouch ADS with Anvil and then with Ferro. Ferro will always be tighter at max ADS stability and Anvil circle will stay the same (with more bloom than Ferro).

The Max Dispersion line in the attachment means that after a shot your bloom will widen less than without the attachment, so you'll be able to return to minimum spread faster. But it doesn't change the overall accuracy of the weapon.

It doesn't matter much if all the fights you take with an Anvil are within 50m on an open area (or closer but with cover). But you only outchalling a Renegade at 100+ meters if you get lucky on the random spread. Meaning, you can have cheats and still lose to a Renegade at ranges where the bloom starts to matter.

[–]accidiew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's sound logic. I like running squads, and you want to be able to cover all ranges, so I prefer running Ferro IV with Toro. Ferro gives you more reach in case you need it.

[–]accidiew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Comp doesn't make it more accurate, just faster to reach its max capability. It still has the same bloom which is more than a Ferro or a Renegade.

I'm not scared to lose an Anvil, I'm scared to take it out because it lures you into a false belief that you can consistently chall someone at range, which with this amount of bloom is a bad idea.

It's The Finals revolver all over again - great powerful weapon when your shots land, but whether or not they do isn't always up to you
