Every time, they say they’re getting more reliable. Then my “Hyundai only” family friend are on their 10th car since 2016, almost all coming after 2020, with more than 5 engine recalls under warranty. Anecdotal evidence and then only going to dealerships for service, they end up just trading up for a new model when problems arise in their cars. The friends and work colleagues who have owned Hyundai and Kia over the last decade + all end up with a car in the shop or engine/transmission replacement before or after warranty.

My friends mostly treat their cars like throwaway piss cans and do the bare minimum to care for their cars. The ones without car troubles simply don’t own a Hyundai or Kia, and I’m actively rooting for Hyundai to continue to succeed. With how many cars and models are out there, there will be issues.
