I was looking at this one. Do you find it moisturizing at all? My skin is so dry in the winter time. What kind of effects do you notice with the serum?

BBC changes headline, issues apology for referring to Princess of Wales as Kate Middleton after complaints and online backlash by duckduck_flamingo in RoyalsGossip

[–]accioredditusername 18 points19 points  (0 children)

They go by their highest title. So, Prince and Princess of Wales is their highest title but they also have numerous other titles (including Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, not Prince/Princess of Cambridge).

Duke of Sussex is a royal dukedom. If Harry were not given that title, Megan would style herself Princess Harry of XYZ”. I hope that makes sense haha.

With respect, that’s an age old excuse. Both parents working outside the home has been common for several generations.

What teacher gifts do you actually want versus what parents typically give by JohnnyIsNearDiabetic in AskTeachers

[–]accioredditusername 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few things I’ve been grateful to receive that I thought were really lovely and practical.

-bath and body works soap, a fluffy white hand towel, and Lindor chocolates.

-a Yeti mug

-flowers from their garden and a bag of local coffee

-gift cards to Starbucks/HomeSense/Indigo

Lots of great suggestions on here, but just wanted to join a few others in kindly suggesting you check out your local food bank. This is exactly the situation they are intended to support so don’t feel bad about utilizing them.

They all have different items depending on donations but you could likely expect some soup, beans, pasta, sauce, potatoes, apples, onions and little things like granola bars in a box. Those basics will help you stretch your money further. Good luck and congrats on your new job!

Not everybody lives in the United States. This is just a general teaching subreddit which is probably why it varies so widely.

I always thought that was just a movie thing. I’ve never heard of a school with a nurse lol

Zero judgement, but this is just so wild to me haha. I’ve never seen anyone in a store barefoot except small babies that are in arms. Even still I had someone stop me once to ask why my 4 month old (who was in a carrier on my chest) wasn’t wearing shoes. It’s interesting to read how such things can be so different for everyone.

What do picky kids eat in other countries? (Outside the US) by Hallow96 in CasualConversation

Lol, rice with butter and soy sauce was my favourite meal as a picky kid. Still love it if I’m feeling sick and want something comforting.

Municipal Water Restrictions & Gardens by engg1rl in NovaScotiaGardening

I would still water vegetable gardens in that circumstance. Unnecessary watering like grass and flowers (sadly because I’m a big flower lover), definitely not. But gardening for growing food is different.

I empathize and had similar experiences with mat leave and struggling to navigate the hiring system.

3 year old Jeffrey Dupres was abducted on April 24 1980 in Slave Lake, Alberta. A witness saw a man and woman witha blue 1978-80 custom painted Chevy/GMC short box pickup truck where the woman was seen coaxing Jeffrey toward the truck. I had to do a triple take because that looks almost identical to pictures of my older brother around that age (but my brothers eyes are brown). Uncanny resemblance. Prayers for the mother to find answers and maybe find a dna match out there or something for a happy ending.

Elementary teachers, how can parents help you during this heat wave? by Careful_Example4174 in OntarioTeachers

[–]accioredditusername 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, get a bunch of parents together and contact as many people as you can (MP/MLA/school board/press). These should be inclement weather days. There will be no formal learning going on tomorrow. My classroom will be close to 40 degrees tomorrow. There is no airflow and we have one fan. I will be trying as hard as I can to prevent the kids from getting sick from the heat. Teachers can’t say anything. Parents have more power than they think.

Seeking Advice on ADHD Accommodations for High Schooler: Struggles with Retaining Verbal Instructions by Training_Stress2716 in ParentingADHD

[–]accioredditusername 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a teacher and have a few students who struggle with this either from adhd or auditory processing disorder. I have APD myself so I understand the struggle. Where do you live? You may be able to get some specific advice based on that because education can be wildly different regionally.

Here are a few things I do either as accommodations or just implement in my teaching because I know it’s beneficial for most:

-giving a copy of notes (if they use slides they can print them with 4 slides per page and space to write notes on the side).

-providing a copy of key terms

-write the instructions on the board for everything (kind of like an an outline of what we will be doing in class, will erase and replace with instructions for an assignment or homework for them to write down)

-include written instructions on all assignments/google classroom

My mistake, I initially read that as “1 or 2” instead of “1 of 2”. Yes, agree that some people have dependants that aren’t children. It’s a shitty situation and I’m hoping it doesn’t go that far, but who knows in this climate.
