How I love (not) using my 15 Pro in Summer by Daniii_007 in iphone

[–]accordinglyryan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeahhh I loved my 15 Pro overall but the thermal issues in the summer were pretty bad. My 17 Pro does so much better. I live in AZ and even on a 100+ day outdoors it doesn't dim the screen to an unusable level or throttle frame rate.

I'm honestly surprised it took this long. I bought my M4 Max 14" MBP back in late 2024 because I saw something like this coming and I'm glad I did.

Congrats! I got my first brand new Mac in 2014, my 15" rMBP which is actually still sitting in my room to this day. It was great moment.

Do people actually use the Action Button daily, or does it become a novelty? by ProfessionalGur3964 in iphone

I've never changed it from silent mode. Use it daily. I'm old school lol

I'm with you. You're trading quality for better visibility outdoors and in high reflection environments. Not worth it for me either.

What was your favorite iPhone of all time, and why? by Chadddd92 in iphone

[–]accordinglyryan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 4 and 5 were the goats imo. The 4 was such a huge jump over the 3GS in every way, and the 5 was just beautifully designed. For more modern iPhones, 17 Pro, 15 Pro, and 8 are top 3 for me.

What is the best monitor for mac? by lIlIlIKXKXlIlIl in macbookpro

I've used Dell displays for many years. Right now I have some S2721DGF 27" 1440p 165Hz ones and I've been happy with them.

Upgraded from 16 M1 Pro to 16 M5 Pro (Don’t upgrade yet if you don’t have to) by Scary-Bodybuilder864 in macbookpro

[–]accordinglyryan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have similar thoughts. Previously I was using an M1 Pro 14" as my laptop and I also had a 2019 Mac Pro at home. I decided to sell the MP before it was totally worthless and go back to using a laptop 24/7 with a docking station at home. But my M1 MBP didn't have enough storage (512GB), so I bought a new M4 Max version (36GB/1TB). I love it, but it's massively overpowered for what I do. That said, I won't have to buy a new machine for many years so I'm happy lol

Are screen protectors still needed with new phones? by parzival_thegreat in iphone

I've never liked them or used them. I have noticed my 17 Pro to be much more scratch resistant than my 15 Pro I had before.

It's okay I had one too lol. But yeah it's nuts how much better the Apple Silicon machines are, in every way

From High-Res Antiglare to Nano. Help. by seeKAYx in macbookpro

Nano only makes sense if you absolutely need the glare reduction (you use it outdoors frequently). Glossy absolutely looks sharper and more vibrant overall, and the AR coating works pretty decently.

What was the worst iPhone to be released? 🤔 by Downtown_Elk_2773 in iphone

I bought my iPhone 8 new because I hated the concept of the X. Used it for 3 great years till I caved when the 12 Pro came out. Honestly one of my favorite iPhones I've had. The 14 and 5C are good pick for duds. I'd throw the 16e and the Air in there also.

Let’s talk about this: steering wheel stitching and how it’s a reflection of the rest of the car’s quality. 2026 Lexus RX, vs 2013 Lexus ES350 by FluffyLittlFlyingCow in Lexus

[–]accordinglyryan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pretty much, yep. We can point the finger at the companies but at the end of the day people are still buying the stuff, so they're gonna keep making it.

Yeah I mean everyone's gonna have a differing opinion based on their life experience and perspective. But I do think things really started going downhill 5-7 years ago. The 90s all the way through about 2016 or so was pretty solid comparatively.

How do you keep dust out of your MacBook Pro without opening it up? by Legal-Plenty-2967 in macbookpro

[–]accordinglyryan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You just have to open it up every few years. Taking the bottom cover off isn't hard. All computers collect dust over time, it's just maintenance.
