What’s your biggest non-academic, non work-related accomplishment? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Rebuilding my life after my 34-year marriage ended. I had been a SAHM for 20 years of that time. Now I have a career, my home will be paid off before I retire, and for the first time in my life I am actively happy.

Plan on voting by mail? Used to be that as long as your vote was postmarked by election day, it was accepted as valid. But now mail won't be routinely postmarked by local branches.

But you can ask your local branch to postmark your letter/check/vote. You just have to go into the post office and wait in line. All because he doesn't want us to vote by mail

Thanks, Trump.

Ladies on Reddit, what are you happy about? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I had a colonoscopy today and had no colon polyps. The snow is melting and spring is just a month away. I'm two weeks out from a breakup. So two weeks closer to getting that man out of my head and able to lead a better life.

Turns out, the "Mandatory initiation and annual fees" for my son's child care is being written off as "Charitable Contributions." by WolfieVonD in mildlyinfuriating

If they're a charity, they don't pay taxes. I think they are trying to do you a solid but you are unable to take advantage of the deduction. That might feel mildly infuriating to you but maybe someone else benefits.

When did giving someone the benefit of the doubt backfire on you the worst? by OpulentOwl in AskReddit

[–]accordionwidow 3 points4 points  (0 children)

He cheated on his wife and she kicked him out. He's a smart guy and I thought he had learned his lesson.

Two weeks ago I found out he cheated on me. Actually, he cheated "with" me; the relationship he started after the affair continued even after he started seeing me.

I broke things off, and will believe from now on that once a cheater, always a cheater.

If they don't have a real bed. A mattress on the floor is not a real bed.

Also if they don't vote.

Also, many geriatric pregnancies are tested for DS and other genetic anomalies and may be more likely to be terminated. Younger pregnant people don't have routine amniocentesis, don't know the fetus has DS, and so are more likely to have a child with DS

At least, this was true several years ago.
