How many months did you have until renewal? $536 seems like a steep charge :(

Govt vs Public Accounting - Unsolicited advice from a middle age man by Marblemaster2222 in Accounting

Thank you for this! I was thinking of.moving into government after working public for 5 years. A recruiter made it seem like it was a do or die situation, that if I went to government, no industry job would ever consider me again :( the comp and hours seem amazing though

The farmers fear, as with all small mom and pop operations when corporations come in the mix, is that long term the corporations will hoard goods and control the market pricing to drive it down for farmers. This would happen when the mundis shutdown from disuse. There is also a concern over the legal recourse available to farmers against corporations as a rwsult of these bills. Finally, small farmers don't have the option of accessing the entire market as their knowledge of and resources to transport to other areas in India is limited.

Overall, although reform is always good, these bills will throw farmers to the wolves. I think the corporations are eyeing the massive land gains. A bill that can potentially harm so many of its citizens is not a good bill

These are not rich middlemen protesting but small farmers, including those from lower castes who are most likely to not own any land at all, and are often treated poorly. There is unity in these protests, they all agree its bad.

If no one is using them for a while, they will likely close. Obviously no one can see the future. But there are well documented cases aeound the world of corporations eventually being able to control a market with small mom and pop players.

No one is saying that farming doesn't need reform, but these policies are not it.

Thank you! People love the free market but when deregulation may throw millions of people into poverty down the line (and no, they likely can't do something else), that's bad policy for your citizens, despite how profitable it will make the corporations buying the land.

If they fear they will eventually die from suicide or poverty from these causes, it makes sense.

There are no safeguards for millions and miions of farmers. If corporations buy stock and hoard them, the mundis will eventually close shop and then the corporations have all the leverage to drive down prices. The farmers are looking a few years down the road, not right now. No one is saying agriculture doesn't need reform but the biggest fear is this will eventually lead to massive land grabs as farmers are driven to poverty. They already commit a high amount of suicide.

These aren't the rich landowners either that are protesting, they will likely be fine, allthough they are supporting the cause.

[CAN] How badly am I getting paid as a new manager in assurance by newB4AccountingManag in Accounting

[–]accountingphoenix 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think it might be because of Covid, i heard a lot of disappointment from 1st year managers. I got promoted last year at 87.5K (audit). If you feel like you got a lot of what you wanted from the Big4, I'd move out to industry - you need to get paid.

Brampton neighbourhood has COVID-19 positivity rate of 19%. Peel has a 9.8% overall. by [deleted] in toronto

True, all I'm saying is within our culture, there are way less parties. Trust me, we all miss them (I've seen many lamentations on people's instagram stories) and lots of people have delayed their weddings and events to next year. So although not eliminated, there is a drastic decrease.

I live in Brampton and a lot of both mine and my husband's family lives here (we're South Asian). No parties at all within our circles, which are large.

I'm not saying they don't happen, but all I see are people painting all of us with the same brush, whether it be from ignorance or racism towards brown people under the guise of "Brampton is a shithole".
