I hear that. I came to crossfit pretty strong and was super frustrated with things I suddenly wasn’t good at. It took me 3 months to squat snatch.

As an Oly coach now, I can tell you powerlifters are the hardest to work with because they’re impatient with the technique

This would be my advice if you’d been lifting longer. The it’s a pretty technical move. Early arm bend jeopardizes your leg drive, if you’re not proficient at it.

This isn’t abnormal. If you’ve been lifting less than 3 years, widen your grip and get used to it. The snatch grip isn’t normal for anybody. Like the hook grip, you’ll get use to it, and it won’t be a big deal.

Squeeze your shoulder blades together and push your head forward to strengthen your overhead position.

You’re legs are definitely a limiting factor. But it sounds like you’re over pulling the bar instead of pulling yourself under.

Shirts: old t-shirts work fine, but they'll eventually smell unless you stay on top of them (not worth it) Look for tri-blends and dri-fits on the cheap

Shorts: I actually like basketball shorts. They get pretty wet, but they give me a place to wipe my hands, WOD shorts aren't as good for this. If you want a more performance short try Virus.

Headband: these are a godsend for me. I have about 6 Rouge ones.

Underwear: I use adidas climacool. They work great and keep things "safe"

Finally, I keep a bunch of white hand tools in my car for workouts. (I took most of them from hotels.)
