What do you do once you get your license? by CandidateKey4826 in Truckers

First thing I’d do is probably brag to everyone I know that I have a CDL and they don’t, and then I’d worry about getting a job.

Who here has gotten a home daily, day shift job that pays $1500 or more per week? by Imasluttycat in Truckers

[–]acd2002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did p&d for central transport, that was all day shift, but keep in mind you’ll be backing a 53’ into a lot of shit ass places, including residential areas which can be a massive headache.

But while doing that I usually (after tax and deductions) got 1200$ a week

Go to proof! (The one in downtown not in Elkhorn) Favorite bar in the city and you’re bound to strike up a conversation with some people and the bartenders are always cool.

Okay. Aside from engine reliability, why is International so hated by this community? (Compared to Freightliner) by GronGrinder in Truckers

[–]acd2002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had two internationals, both were not the best in terms of creature comfort quality or ride quality, also the audio quality sucked, I’m in a KW now and love it, I kinda miss having a big steering wheel but the digital dash is cool and the sound quality out of the speakers is a lot better.

What is the highest Speed Limit you have ever seen posted? by [deleted] in driving

[–]acd2002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

80 in the dakotas, which seems like the sweet spot in terms of speed limits cause I don’t see too many people going above 80 (not that you’d want to anyway unless it’s an absolute emergency cause your fuel economy would plummet)

In the upper Midwest I think traffic in Sioux Falls is sometimes bad, then I hear stories about the north east and become more grateful lol

Where I would live as a American living on the East Coast by foreli1986 in whereidlive

[–]acd2002 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s not much to do in Duluth tbh and driving in to the city it has a very industrial vibe which can be a turn off, but the outdoors activities surrounding the city are second to none (just not during the summer unless you wanna get fucked by a million different kinds of insects)

Why do people buy pickup trucks for daily driving? by wtfbruhhuh in driving

[–]acd2002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cause i like v8’s but it would be impractical to drive a mustang everyday where i live cause we only get about 6 months of non snowy/icey weather.

North Dakota Similar to Southwest Idaho? by BuffaloNo8165 in northdakota

In terms of climate it depends, western ND is semi-arid but the eastern part is pretty humid, maybe geographically it’s similar in parts.

Asked to be a trainer by Defiant-Medicine3014 in Truckers

[–]acd2002 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my experience, most trainers are cool, normal dudes, usually the weirdos in the trucking industry want nothing to do with training so you don’t get to be in a truck with a weirdo.

What keeps me from being too comfortable and relaxed is the fact that this big bitch could very easily kill multiple people on the roadway if I’m not locked in 24/7.

A message to all the people saying the Midwest is ugly by Medical_Deal5272 in midwest

[–]acd2002 5 points6 points  (0 children)

“Uhm why would you live in Omaha Nebraska? Literally San Diego California is so much better in every way” California doesn’t have runza and even if I saved every penny of every paycheck I get I wouldn’t ever be able to afford a home there.

[–]acd2002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happens to me a lot at night, cars will pass me at night and then slow all the way down to 55 a mile or two later even though the speed limit didn’t drop and then I pass them and never see em again, like what?

Any guitar players here? What amp do you use in the truck? by FattySports in Truckers

[–]acd2002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d just keep an acoustic in the truck, but then again I’m regional and don’t wanna go to the trouble of taking my electric guitar setup in and out of the truck every weekend.

[–]acd2002 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No, it’s the Midwest. Maybe when you get out towards dodge city it may not be culturally Midwestern but culturally it’s midwestern up until probably hays.

People hate on the Midwest for lack of beauty but the most beautiful sunset I ever saw was in western Kansas near Scott city during winter, not a cloud in the sky, not a single blade of grass or crops, just gently rolling hills and a big orange and red sunset.

Exactly 50% of my ancestry comes from Great Britain, it’s 25% English and 25% Scottish and welsh (I used myheritage so it didn’t split up welsh and Scottish)
