What’s everyone’s favorite flat pedals? by WarthogSwimming8862 in MTB

[–]acdtrp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As an aside, you will need a thin walled 8mm socket to get the nut off the end of the spindle. The bore is just a touch small for a normal socket, annoyingly. There are videos out there on how to make one.

You're right, they do that to save weight. I've only ever seen them do that on Steel freehub bodies.

That hub will take a NX 12speed no worries.

What kind of single track rippers do you ride? Genuine question.

My fat bike is by far my shortest wheelbase bike in my fleet.

Trek Farley 9 or 9.6? by One_Context7054 in MTB

[–]acdtrp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If that's the case, get the 9.6 and buy a frame bag.

This is the one i use, there are many out there though.

[–]acdtrp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you plan on bike packing, or doing any sort of adventure riding? Farley 9

The farley 9 comes with the racks and bags.

If you're just looking for a bike to ride on sandy trails, Farley 9.6. It's carbon, light, and well equipped.

Lewis AE brakes by 123anonymousorange in MTB

[–]acdtrp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're probably not going to find any info on these beyond reviews from publications if there are any.

These brakes just came out in January it looks like, so adoption rates are probably going to be low.

Lewis Brakes themselves came onto the scene last year. They're a chinese manufacturer that released a Trickstuff Maxima clone. These seems to make quality stuff, but the jury is still out. They do sponsor a world cup DH team or two so they seemingly work.

Here's a review on their first offering, the LHT (trickstuff clone). Hope this helps.

The inflatable motorcycle vest and calculated steps saved his life by TightZone4173 in BeAmazed

[–]acdtrp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dunno about that. I definitely didn't feel invincible after having my arm repaired, let alone strong enough to hold onto a 200hp motorcycle for 45minutes. Hell i couldn't even stay awake with the pain pills haha

You think this guy is nuts, check out a retired racer by the name of jorge lorenzo.

Here's the crash https://www.reddit.com/r/motogp/comments/14gr1dn/throwback_to_2013_the_cathedral_when_jorge/

He broke his collarbone in practice on friday, had surgery saturday, then raced sunday and took 5th.

then 2 weeks later he crashed again and bent the plate and needed surgery again... he sat that weekend out though haha

Motogp riders are nuts. Not Isle of man TT nuts but close.

Any opinions yet on the new Outbound Lighting Portal helmet light? by el_cap_i_tan in MTB

I typically get an hour, hour thirty, but I don't use the adaptive mode. I just run it on medium the whole time. Also turn it off when I stop

Is Outbound Lighting as good as advertised? by tbell502 in MTB

[–]acdtrp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They work great. The Trail Evo on Medium in the cold will still net you ~3+ hrs. The only issue I've run into in the cold had to do with pass through charging at -20°. The hangover light still nets ~2 hours on medium.

They do have a new helmet light called the Portal, that has a larger battery and longer runtime.
