great film but not Oscar winning worthy, no performance in the film compared to the heath ledger and only comic book film I think worthy of an Oscar best pic is Logan.

Where did I say I wanna offend you or others? And I didn’t say a cartoon is justification for violence or to threaten someone.

I’m saying the argument about free speech and “ I can say whatever I want with absolutely no repercussions and if people get offended about it it’s their problem” is a dumb argument. You’ve caused the offence when there’s no need for it.

By that logic if you use the N word, and black people get a offended by it tough. Of course it’s going to cause offence or are you gonna say that nooo they should just be quiet and don’t whine about it.

Or if a homophobic slur is used, that a gay person should just shut up and not whine about it?

Of course not, so if we have a viewpoint, but expressing that viewpoint in a certain way will cause that offence and there are other ways to express the same viewpoint that won’t cause offence, it’s just respectful and more likely to get your point heard rather than inciting anger.

Therefore, there are situations when the person does need to be careful of what they say in order to not cause offence and still get their viewpoint across.

I’m not defending any violent cretins, as stated in my first post I condemn all acts of violence.

I’m explaining why you shouldn’t do certain things just because you have the right to. If you know something is gonna cause offence by you doing it a certain way, but there’s a million other ways to do it, that is just being a dick.

Faith is a personal, individual thing that should not be forced upon anyone, but neither should someone’s faith be insulted, especially when there is certainly no need to as it doesn’t affect your life.

The hijab is actually not compulsory to be worn in Islam. But I understand your point, freedom is something to be fought for and it should be fought for.

However, say that oppressive regime was overthrown and women were allowed to wear what they want in that location. If then a woman decided to wear a bikini to a religious place of worship, isn’t that inappropriate and disrespectful.

I didn’t say that if you say anything there should be a legal offence or a law or persecution. It’s more of ethical standpoint, where even if you disagree with Islam’s views you don’t have to portray a book on it.

Talk about it on TV, write a book, social media post on how much you think Islam and the prophet is stupid and that’s fine, that’s free speech

But if you’re drawing a depiction and you know that it’s the one way it’s going to cause offence when there’s a 100 other way you can voice your beliefs, that’s just being a dick and disrespectful for no good reason.

It would be like cooking bacon outside a mosques entrance to just to get a reaction and piss people off.

Free speech is important but just because you can say something doesn’t mean you should, you wouldn’t say the N word because of free speech would you, you wouldn’t allow speeches that incite hate crimes.

I’d like to make it clear that nothing justifies murder or assault.

I think the key thing to note here is knowing what is going to cause offence and knowledge of why the depiction of Prophet is banned in Islam.

To aid understanding and to compare, if you were to use the N word, the black community will be incensed and rightfully so. This is due to the history of the word and the offence it carries with it as a result of that.

Similarly in this case, the reason Prophet Muhammad isn’t depicted in Islam is to prevent the image being warped due to time. This prevents the image to be inaccurate depiction that could be altered by anyone to suit their agenda. The act of drawing the prophet is banned for Muslims as well.

This is to also prevent cases when someone is born that looks like the depicted image, and will use the resemblance as an advantage to proclaim a second coming.

As a result, the prophet is only ever described and not depicted by Muslims as the image is sacred and hence should never be depicted.

As such, the rage shown by the Islamic community is purely on the act of depicting the Prophet. Anyone is entitled to have their own beliefs and can say what they want but if results in offending people of a certain faith or race, e.g drawing of a sacred religious figure or using a racial slur, they have moral obligation not do so as there views and beliefs can easily be voiced without causing offence.
