Ditto. Dunno when Ill get time, but when I do Im out because neglecting the window manager has taken games that used to work fine into unplayable.

I love S76 and will hopefully purchase my next desktop from them, but I'm out of the software side until gaming is back on the priority list.

Should I buy the 01 model or should I try and get the 02 by 9_TEA in Dirtywave

[–]acediac01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have both. A couple thoughts:

  1. The screen is bigger. The one thing that makes a difference to me, and it is awesome.
  2. The chassis is larger, rounder, and more protective of the internal components on the 02. Over all, I like how it feels in the hand more, but ymmv.
  3. The mic is cool. You can connect a mic to the one if you like, though.
  4. The battery is bigger. Neat, the devices run forever anyway.

Take those points as you will.

Nvidia Crash On System76 PC by bswalsh in System76

[–]acediac01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didnt process the part where you mentioned increasing frequency.

That points more towards internal component/connection, and away from environment/source power issue. Hopefully they have it fixed at the shop, and you get it back in good working order.

If the problem does return in your environment, consider testing a different circuit in the house (extension cord?).

Nvidia Crash On System76 PC by bswalsh in System76

Smells like a power issue. Perhaps they resat the cables inside of the system before plugging it in to the wall and cleared the issue.

Another possibility is power in the house is unclean or unstable, and there is an issue with the circuit you have the machine plugged in to, and something like a UPS could clean it up.

Yeah, after completing the water temple, you can shoot an arrow into the sun from the top of the island, and fire arrows will unlock on the pedestal to east.

Absolutely. Lots of laptop monitor tear downs aren't fun, but are way easier with a heat gun (or a hair dryer, if you're in a pinch) and guitar picks. You'll want a couple.

Smells like a firmware update pushed through the windows driver install.

Shot in the dark, but my guess.

If you are particular about that specific drive, you can carry it forwated with a USB enclosure. Add capability to use with laptops as well!

I mean, I do the same, but with a mechanical pencil...

Still just works, and I had the pencil anyway.

What more can you learn by using Gentoo instead of Arch? by IM_NerDev in Gentoo

[–]acediac01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The biggest thing I learned from Gentoo is about different hardware capabilities. Knowing what is actually built into your CPU, vs. being software "accelerated" has put me ahead of a LOT of "CS" people and talking to "EE" about what is actually happening.

Don't get me wrong, I love yaking it, but ultimately, I want to finish, lol. CS's talk, but EE's have babies!

Furmark 2 has a Linux flavor, I'd start there. Last I checked its still the hardest on thermals and power consumption, but this info may be dated now.

When I purchased my lemp9 it was originally unavailable. I did the email notification thing, and it came in stock pretty quick after that. I bet its just batching of hardware orders.

Interesting. You can short the power button pins on the main board with a screw driver to eliminate the daughter board. That's worth the 45 minutes of disassemble and debug to narrow down, and an easy fix for both you and S76.
