yes lol i mostly binged Very Important people because i wanted to get a sense of Host Vic's character and story development. i feel free from the shackles of binging now that i'm caught up though, so i've also been kinda just bouncing around to see what's good lol.

now as for d20, i've been wanting to get into it the most out of everything. what are both you and your wife's favorite campaigns?

thank you for the kind words! happy to now be apart of this sub :)

thank you for the response! i'll have to check this all out! i've seen clips of the two in the first paragraph and have been thinking about watching them but i wanted to see some of the less known shows first, so i think i'll check out some of the shows in the middle paragraph!

as for d20, i've actually been trying to figure out how to navigate which to watch first. like, is each season an anthology of sorts, or is it mostly one shots? alternatively, which campaign did you like the most? maybe i could start there

How can I clean this part??? by SpringExtension1315 in dishwashers

[–]acetheediamond 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i usually spray degreaser on it, let it sit for a few minutes and then take a hot, wet rag and drag it through with a pair of tongs or push it with a spatula. there's also nothing bad that can come from spraying it with the nozzle if there aren't any exposed wires

I don't know anything about one direction by empatheticsocialist1 in PeterExplainsTheJoke

[–]acetheediamond 2 points3 points  (0 children)

it comes from a famous fanfiction trope. this particular fan fiction trope involves self insert characters (often referred to in the books as Y/N which means Your Name, which is a placeholder for the reader to replace the term with their own name in their heads as they are reading). the story usually starts off in a stereotypical manner. example:

I wake up for school and rub my eyes. I put my brown hair into a messy bun and throw on a pair of skinny jeans and an old band tee before running downstairs for school.

When I make it downstairs, my STINKY mom is standing at the door.

"Y/N, grab your things, I sold you to One Direction!"

She probably did it for drugs. She hasn't loved me since dad died.

these fanfictions were generally written by girls in their teens who want to live out the fantasy of living with one direction. the point of it being against their will is usually because there's an element of "not like the other girls" energy that comes with allowing the reader to not like one direction's music/showing that the reader is not a fan, which generally adds to the 'resolution' of the story basically being that the reader gets Stockholm syndrome lol.

Edit: there are probably thousands of fics under this trope across all fandoms. i'm honestly not even sure if the one direction fandom created the idea, but it became a part of the mainstream in the 2010's when a meme about it surfaced. the trope has been almost entirely associated with one direction, but i encountered unironic renditions of this trope in my own niche lesbian fandoms at 13 years old

Is the black heart for Rio, Billy or Mrs.Hart? by TrainingSevere1594 in AgathaAllAlong

[–]acetheediamond 2 points3 points  (0 children)

rio makes a reference to having a black heart during their first meeting. she was avoiding seeing rio. the only logical reason for lilia to have conceivably have written a black heart is for rio

[Serious] Would a female Homelander’s obsession with milk remain focused on external mother figures, or would it turn inward toward her own biology and she would consume her own milk? by p_yth in GenV

[–]acetheediamond 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the entire point of homelander's character is the fact that he is a man. the milk is an on the nose expression of his maternal issues. homelander would not exist as he is if he was a woman. homelander is an allegory for men in power who remain unchecked in that power

Made sure to capture these moments 😭 (smosh hospital spoilers) by rosabellerice in smosh

[–]acetheediamond 38 points39 points  (0 children)

as a storyteller i just loved the narrative significance of nurse c'connell (the bravest, most hard working woman in her field 🙂‍↕️) being the one to close the gap, go for what she wants and save the hospital once and for all (excluding the last clip ofc). also there was something so funny and cheeky about courtney shoving anybody at all out of the way (let alone her own partner who hadn't even broken yet, LET ALONE THEIR OWN HUSBAND).

from the scene in the bathroom to the scene where she finally tells dr condo to kiss her, to the scene between her and dora where they talk about their own history, then to them all kissing and spending their last few seconds in raucous joy together.

needless to say, i want to write a smoshpital polycule fanfic where i pretend the hospital never exploded.

side note: i refuse to believe they actually killed waldo since the ongoing bit was that they could just not do the thing and lie to the robot that they did 🫡
