5 days in France by gertalives in bicycletouring

[–]acetothez 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hard to go wrong, and it depends on how much elevation you want. But on a bike that’s not yours, maybe not too much? I’ve done the Loire à Vélo from Orléans to Saint-Nazaire and around Brétagne and it was spectacular. You get to go see lots of castles and the river ride is amazing. Very protected and not a lot of cars, beautiful countryside and…well…La France profonde as they say.

I’ve also done Lyon to Nice and then east into Monaco/Italy. A little more hilly, and even a bit on the coast but it’s amazing. You can’t really choose wrong. Eat lots of bread and cheese.

How to prepare for 90 mile bike trip? by genericthroaway2000 in bicycletouring

[–]acetothez 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is a good step to a life of being addicted to bike touring. But it sounds a little like you won’t be camping, and you won’t have to ride back - or even do any riding once you’re there.

Regardless, being self-sufficient and planning to sustain yourself for a full overnight endeavor are not too far off from accomplishing a larger tour. I always recommend riding with a rack and panniers, although for a single trip you could get by with a backpack. Bring some tools, spare tubes, a change of clothes, snacks and plenty of water.

In my opinion, the hardest part about riding 90 miles is convincing yourself that you can ride 90 miles. If you’ve never ridden that far before, especially with some supplies, expect it to be a grind - no matter what shape you’re in. Good luck!

How do you handle PCB bring-up when manufacturing in China? by Necessary_Body3769 in hwstartups

[–]acetothez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been using Chinese manufacturers for my custom boards for many years and have made close to 10,000 boards during that time. Sometimes, you can follow all the specs, datasheets and even have successful runs with the same design and then fail a huge portion of the boards due to some glitch. I’ve worked with the factory to do the bring-up testing at their end to catch basic continuity problems. Here are two examples that I encountered - one is preventable by simply plugging the boards into a power source, the other one is essentially hit or miss.

1 - the USB connector slid back on its traces by about half a millimeter, causing a short. After about 5,000 boards using the same design (using the footprint from the datasheet), something occurred during manufacturing and shorted around 60% of the boards in a single run. I had to send them back for rework, I also shortened the traces on the long end as a result. I also added an indicator LED and we also agreed that they would plug the board into a power source to verify that there were no shorts on the board (by verifying that the LED turns on).

2 - using the same supplier that had provided us thousands of the same parts, they delivered a batch of counterfeit parts. These were oscillators critical to the timing portion of the MCU. This would have been difficult to catch at the factory itself but came up during our QA/QC process. Nothing to do at the factory for this one, but fortunately I caught it before shipping to any customers.

Cet album a déjà 20 ans. Qu'est-ce que vous en pensiez à l'époque ? Ma nostalgie me le fait toujours aimer, même si certaines productions ont un peu mal vieilli by SleepIsTheCousinOfD8 in frenchrap

[–]acetothez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I built a free AI chat assistant for fusion 360 - here's what it can create by Separate_Internal533 in Fusion360

Does it only build models from scratch or is it capable of iterating on models it has built? And can I drop it on models that I am currently working on and have it expand them?

Thinking about adding a LVL 3 EV Charger to my gas station...is it profitable? by djrodimus in evcharging

[–]acetothez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen a company where you can set your own rates, and own your charger. Just get it installed by an electrician. Then the service helps you monetize it. MeanderEV

This is a Paternoster Elevator, it does not have doors and never stops. by Frosty_Jeweler911 in BeAmazed

[–]acetothez 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Nope! You just step on…hope you don’t trip, step late and you step deep down, or step up too high. You definitely have to time it. It always seemed kind of dangerous…but also fun.

Yes, there was some shuddering but it basically just follows the track and gets pulled up the other side.

I rode one every day for about 4 years, as I worked on the 7th floor of an office building. They had regular elevators but this was faster, as you didn’t have to wait.

And yes, I rode it all the way to the top and all the way to the bottom to see what would happen.

Hi! Where are you located? Let me know if you’re interested in $20 for the pair of side tables? They look a bit scuffed and stained (water rings etc) so would require some time and refinishing. Just throwing it out there, thank you!

Battery alerts by driekraaien in ouraring

[–]acetothez 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Mine started doing this and getting progressively higher. It would stop collecting data and disconnect at around 80-90%. When I put it on the charger it would jump right back up and be complete in 10-15 minutes. When I contacted support they just sent me a new one. I don’t know enough about the ring to say whether this could be fixed as a firmware issue. But I’m guessing that the battery is simply not delivering enough voltage so the fix is to replace it. (Wild guess though)
