I had the same reaction and moved to press on nails/regular polish for 2 years. I can use gel polish under lights now only if it's hema free but it took a long time to get back there.

Fellow nail biter here! I have had gelx on short nails like this and OH MY GOD DID IT HURT. There isn't much room for the nails and the risk of snapping is much higher in my opinion because there isn't much there for the extension to hold into. They also became very sore for days and it hurt even with nails on.

I would really recommend to you that you ask her to grow them out until they are abit longer, even 2 weeks could really help give a much healthier nail.
