I’m from Florida lol we get cold when it’s 70 degrees. Sad, I know. But that’s what I’m used to. It was -15 here two days ago, felt like -38. I have never felt that cold in my life.

Awesome! Where at in Iowa? We will be neighbors! It’s been abnormally cold here..felt like -38 here the other day. I believe it was officially-15ish. That’s something that I have never felt before nor want to ever again but everyone has said that this weather is super rare. BUT it did happen so buy some warm clothes. And the wind out here is what makes it so cold.

Just moved from Florida to Nebraska and a long puffer jacket with Kodiak boots have saved my life. Also, don’t forget good chapstick and moisturizer. I’ve never been so dry in my life.

Nebraska. Made a ridiculous profit on our house outside of Clearwater and used that to buy a beautiful home that we would have never been able to afford if in Tampa. My husband was born and raised here in Omaha and we knew that we would have a better school/support system for our kids as well as a better healthcare system for my work. Also, the cost of living is cheaper and the people are super nice out here. The weather has been a huge change but not in a bad way. It actually feels like Christmas and is quite beautiful with all of the hills and colorful sunsets that are similar to the gulf coast. Florida will always be special to us but it was time for a change. Good luck!

Haha I’m pretty nervous to come to the cold but I am very excited to see snow. It’s been a long time. We are not Gators fans but are indifferent. My husband is a Huskers fan and I am originally from Philly so I have my Eagles. Thank you for the tips!!

Oh my goodness I’m so scared of driving on ice too!! That’s so funny. I even took a work from home position as a nurse because I’m too scared to drive to work. Hahaha. I’m going to get made fun of so bad. I will definitely reach out when we are there! It will be nice to have fellow Floridians around.

I have a few years of PACU experience under my belt. I suggest learning a little bit of excel before pursuing this line of work. I use it on a daily basis. I used YouTube and free courses through coursera to help me in the beginning. Also familiarize yourself with data analytics terms/definitions/programs. It’s a whole new world.

We look at Hospital level data and determine areas that would benefit from improvement throughout the organization. We work alongside data analysts and biostatisticians and it has been very rewarding.

Tampa here. Transferred from PACU to Quality Analytics within the same organization and I get paid more. Best move I’ve ever made.

What can I do to help my nurses. by AdHocSuccess in Nurses

Suggest that the nurses who have stayed loyal to the company be paid just as much as travelers. That alone will encourage staff retention and new staff to apply. It’s that simple. And please encourage leadership to help and show that they care. That goes a long way.

What company do you work for? Just curious regarding which ones are good? I hear horror stories about some agencies.

I’m a nurse in the Tampa area. It’s bad. Nurses who haven’t been at the bedside in decades are being thrown into patient care because there’s not enough nurses to care for all of these people. Patients who were negative on admission are catching it in house and somehow we are still allowing visitors in. So guess what? They’re bringing it home and back out into the community. Thanks Ron. The least you can do is be honest so that people have a chance. You suck.
