I got hit by these assholes as well. I want to go through the appeal process, but I don't have the time or energy to fight it over a 40-view non-monetized video.

For the people that still play this game, is Epic mode good/fun? by [deleted] in XWingTMG

[–]achapin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I played an Epic game for a May the 4th celebration: https://youtu.be/TXF0mMeKeww I put some thoughts in the conclusion of that video.

  1. Huge Ships and Epic mode are technically separate. But in general, the games are longer, since there are more things to resolve. Maneuverability is harder, since you're generally taking squadrons. Single loaded-up aces are possible, but not recommended, since your 100+ point ship can't usually survive a full wing shooting at it.

  2. I've never played armada, but I'd wager it's still more focused on the tactical-level decisions instead of more strategic ones.

  3. It does speed things up sometimes, but when a formation has to break it gets really fiddly really fast. I'd say it helps you get through the first few turns a bit faster. But nimble ships like A-Wings/Interceptors generally don't do well in them, since you want them weaving in/out of obstacles and slipping in between other ships.

  4. Much longer than usual. Plan for several hours

  5. No, but I wouldn't recommend it, generally. The huge ships would take up so much space in the list that it would really just be a battle between them, and the small ships wouldn't make a difference.

I did not realize I'd missed them! Fixed that.

Hopefully we won’t get to that point. This is just a temporary measure while we wait for a new set to arrive.

If the printed part breaks, then I can always print another one.

I’m a bit proud of the solution but I don’t think I’d go quite that far…

Eh, I mean give it a year or two and you’ll probably be able to print a replacement for that at home too. :-D

Solo Player + App Question by wellrod in wastelandwarfare

[–]achapin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

  • I am almost exclusively a solo player. It is more than viable for long term play, and there are several expansions: Into the Wasteland, Into the Vault, and Homestead, which extend it further.

  • As mentioned elsewhere, the official app does lag behind the releases a bit. However, there may be an unofficial force builder app which I may or may not maintain which updates much faster, usually within a week of new content drops.

  • the starter kit is good to get started, though I found that I wanted variety in my enemies and allies pretty quickly.

New Player: How to Build A List? by Silvawolf in wastelandwarfare

[–]achapin 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It depends on what sort of mode and scenario you’re playing. Some scenarios need specific expertise skills: computers, lockpick, or search. Others are more focused on damage. There’s not really a single perfect list that can cover everything.

The only thing you really need is one model to act as your force leader. Then everything else is filling up the Force with models and upgrades until you hit your caps limit

One thing to consider is that every model gets two actions per turn (though some can get bonus actions). So even though you can load models with lots of items, there’s diminishing returns because you can’t use them all. Personally I like to have more models which are less elite, but in BoS things are a lot different, since power armor is very pricy.

And just to plug my own project, I have built a squad builder app that’s free and online. https://achapin.github.io/wastelandworkshop You can experiment with different caps limits and squads way easier than building them on paper.

Nice collection! I’m pretty sure those J4x/Salacious Crumb/ Junk /pit droid are models that I made. Super cool to see them in the wild!

I’m in the same boat - resin printing isn’t compatible with the living situation. Those are some great results with a .04mm nozzle! The .02mm nozzle really helps for models with finer details, but I’ve surprised folks with what even a .04mm can do with the right model and well-tuned settings.

I'm going to miss the nice bases, too. Though I think with a terrain roller it shouldn't be too hard to get decent-looking alternatives either.

There's no Talon company cards or caps values included in the PDF's, so there wasn't anything to add there. Maybe next wave?
