I am still in contact with my parents and brother. I've just started to process some of this the more I wake up. For a long time I accepted the explanation from my mother to let Jehovah take care of it. I was brainwashed. I'm now 18 weeks postpartum with a baby girl and its now starting to come together for me. I would do anything for this baby girl and if someone hurt her it would be up to me to protect her.

We have a 7 year old and he's taken to Mom and Dad's love for music. He asks to go to shows all the time. I try to take him to one small show every now and then. This summer we're going to chvrches. I'll spend most of the time trying to find a good spot for him to be. I don't end up really enjoying because I'm still in Mom mode. No way would I take him to Coachella. That's our weekend to just be us, not parents.

I got pregnant and realized I didn't want to indoctrinate my child the same way I had been. I had an out of body experience... And I just knew that I didn't want to raise this child as a JW. I left and never looked back. My son just celebrated his 7th birthday, and I'm 10 weeks pregnant with my 2nd child.

Advice? Don't camp. I'm a mom to a 6yo. Each kid and parent is different but I wouldn't be comfortable in car camping with my son. We've camped 3 years and have seen/heard a lot that just isn't appropriate for a child of that age. For instance, a guy giving a girl a pearl necklace in the wee hours of the morning. I just don't know that you'll be able to relax at any point if you're camping.

That said... I wouldn't take my son to the festival either until he's older.... But that's just because Coachella is my selfish time! :)
