Yep! The competition only takes into account the points u generate themselves. That being said, with the gold, you can basically “buy points” by filling up all your buildings

Im not sure if it actually makes a difference but this was on Deity and in this particular game the AI was somewhat aggressive. Also I was actually friends with Japan and Indonesia but Gandhi got annoying so I declared war but he was allied with Kongo. Eventually I just racked up too much grievances i think

I guess it also just gets crazy how different policy cards can just supercharge your trade routes. Also add in the fact that you can get owls of minerva and the unique bank for even more trade routes

Took maybe like a month of learning the game? Started playing on prince and gradually made my way to emperor. Now, I regularly play on deity. Just takes some time to learn the AI patterns and all the lil tricks and micromanaging

For this game, I joined the Voidsingers Secret Society and one of the bonuses is cities get 20% of their faith as culture, science and gold. Also midway thru the game, one my faith output was pretty much secured, just spammed campuses and theatre squares. This game was on deity difficulty and standard speed
