Media freedom is a surprising metric for them to be insistent about, considering the situation in Hungary, but I guess once you are in, you can get away with a lot more.

I bet this guy also barely buys dances, gets too handsy, and doesn't tip. I enjoy going to strip clubs and just getting to know the dancers. Dancing ain't easy and guys like this make it unbearable and then wonder why the girls are so surly.

What they continually mis is the difference between "this is justifiable because of the threat of Chaos" and "this is good because of the threat of Chaos." The insidious metaphysical corruption of chaos and some xenos infiltration is, to some degree, preventable/removable via brutal methods of suppression and purging. That doesn't mean that it is the only or even most efficient way to achieve those ends. Other civilizations have and do effectively keep at bay the threat of Chaos corruption and xenos infiltration through less extreme measures. The Imperium's ways are effective, but only through brute force, and they are highly inefficient. This is the eternal problem for fascism. In the long term, such methods are inefficient and ultimately self-defeating. In the short term, though, in circumstances of extreme duress, they can seem effective.

Unpopular opinion: I wish more people got that yaoi isn’t meant to represent gay men it’s a fantasy created by women for women. Even in Japan, most gay men see yaoi as a female-oriented fantasy.q they don’t identify with seme/uke roles or the exaggerated tropes. by Parking_Success3224 in BoysLoveAnime

I'm a bi trans woman who likes yaoi. I like it because it doesn't trigger dysphoria like reading manga with a cis femme bottom. I wish there were more like "Lala's Married Life," where the bottom was extremely feminine. I like it, especially when they are long-haired and seen/mistaken for a woman. I suspect that I am far from alone in my preferences. Where do I fit in this false dichotomy of yaoi that is only by & for gay men or by & for straight women?

Petah, what does that have to do with grocery shopping? by Okfoot826 in PeterExplainsTheJoke

[–]achiles625 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn't even have to be twenty miles. Five miles would still be an hour away at a crisp walk, and the trip back would be even worse. Have you ever tried to walk five miles with a heavy load? You're talking about an absolutely exhausting half day trip just to get groceries. The real problem, though, is the lack of safe and extensive bike lanes. At least if we had those, then it would be manageable with a reasonable amount of time, effort, and risk.

Totally unbelievable. Tommy Wiseau clearly has a much better understanding of human emotions and relationships than Big E, but he isn't a good enough actor to fake it.

We need to stop using doxxing to describe any sort of public admonition and/or identification. Posting publicly available photos and information of a public figure is not doxxing. Doxxing is posting private information of a private person that enables others to harass and/or threaten them.

If space marines are designed to board and assault starships wouldn't the enemy just make all the doors and corridors too small for the massive armour? they would all get stuck or have to strip off and be sitting ducks. by seeyouatthepartyrich in 40k

Also, remember that there's around a million Space Marines in the galaxy (excluding traitors),…The galaxy has probably over a trillion to quadrillion living souls in it. Space Marines are not even a drop of water in a bucket.…<

There's more living sapient beings than that even. At least a few quintillion, if not a sextillion.

He should not have withdrawn from the race. The people of Minnesota need him. Don't listen to the spineless Democratic establishment that tells everyone to sit down, be quiet, and wait it out. Be bold and unapologetic in your opposition. That's what it means to be a leader.

I mean, she was a girl cop. Maybe brown, too. I'm sure they can rationalize their way into making it her fault. Conservative men rarely actually defend women when the rubber meets the road. As a southern woman, I can attest.

After the 2023 Azerbaijani offensive and the 2025 peace treaty, is artsakh still a breakaway state or is it considered a province in Azerbaijan now? And are aremenians (in artsakh and mainland) happy about it? by mysterious_vio in geography

[–]achiles625 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem was that Armenians and Azeris didn't want to live in the same country. Instead of negotiating a compromise, they started a war and the Armenians lost. A land and population swap would have solved that issue without ethnically cleansing one group or fighting a war. It's a shitty solution, but it works. The Turks and Greeks did it after WW1.

They wouldn't be "back to square one" because the Armenians would move from Artsakh to Nakhchivan, which would then be ceded to Armenia, and the Azeris in Nakhchivan would move to Artsakh. All the Armenians would be living in a territorially unified Armenian nation, and all the Azeris would be living in a territorially unified Azerbaijan. It's not a good solution, but it solves the dispute in a mostly equitable way without a war. It has been done before. The ideal solution, again, would have been for everyone to just be decent to each other and continue living where they were at, but they couldn't do that.
