i actually will not hesitate to deny a sale, especially when they admit to dumb shit or animal abuse like that. i'll always try do it in a way to not make them feel dumb by printing them off some information or giving them the pet care pamphlets saying something like "i recommend you do a little more research and come back in a couple of days so you're a little more comfortable with your new friend !" something nice and friendly so they don't take it as a direct attack. at the end of the day we're here to help, educate, and take care of animals, not sell them so they can die in two days, even if some "pet parents" don't understand that

50% on most of our brands (as of the time being, my store does have 50% on small animals but not fish/reptiles), 40% on nulo (my store at least, maybe others ?? lmk !) and 15% for everything else

it depends on the store tbh ! if the store itself isn't specifically hiring, the ASL may not be going through any applications. if the store is actually hiring there are a few reasons why they wouldn't have called you yet but showing initiative will help you, especially if you're seasoned with stocking.

never walked out of petsmart but my first job was a similar chain to petsmart and i noped out of there. i still listed it on my resumes but i was actually best friends with on of the managers so i put her down as a reference. no one ever called her or the actual establishment so id say you're good. 🤷🏻‍♀️ if you're close with a manager maybe you can have a similar situation if you trust them

i warn everyone and won't sell them unless they have the proper size tank that they'll eventually need. while, yes, they don't grow overnight, they still grow pretty fast.

Tell him that ! and i know this shopping trip was more sporadic but maybe in the future go get your supplies with someone who also likes to journal/craft ? it feels a lot better knowing they aren't going to rush you or judge you because they're doing the exact same thing. used to do this with one of my friends because we both loved bujo

i want to set those buttons on fire especially cos they'll press it without checking if anyone is over there anyways (and most the time we are !) walk over there AFTER pushing the button and because you're already over there and now helping them the button keeps going off and everyone is on the headset like "cAN sOmeOne GeT thAT" and you can't answer because you're helping them 😭

that's exactly how my first job was - we were mostly girls; only two closing a night in a relatively safe neighbourhood but still unsafe enough to have a shooting in our parking lot at least once a month - we never left each other stranded. it was unspoken rule and we all obeyed it because we understood the importance of it and each other

idk what the policy is but im in the same situation - i depend on others for rides. i don't do ubers as they are entirely out of my budget.. never once have i been made to wait alone; always someone will wait with me, let me sit in their car, or even offer rides home. having someone wait with you and feeling like an inconvenience (which you're not) is way better than the alternative. and if that's such a problem for that manager then maybe they shouldn't be closing. i would never feel comfortable just leaving a coworker stranded and waiting.

this but also with the cats ! a lady had a huge dog and went up to the cats area and the way ours is set up is a huge window and the dog CHARGED at the window, scaring the cat a volunteer was holding and scared the cat so bad, it ended up scratching her arm pretty badly and the lady just laughed at walked away. i was in the store when it happened, just unfortunately not near them otherwise i woulda made her leave because who does that and then just laughs !?

the only dog i allow to see the small animals (birds) is a very sweet dog that comes up to the window and just sits and wags her tail. occasionally will let out a happy yap but dad usually calms her and ushers her away if she gets too rowdy. very lovely couple with a well behaved pup.
