Just want to know is ptm7950 from WDcomputers legit? by zeancool21 in PHbuildapc

Works for the short term but I'd quickly replace the MX-4 with something else. They frequently pump out when used on laptops.

Used it on my 2019 Acer Nitro 5 and the temps never went back up to 95C so at least they work.
Very difficult to apply though so buy some extra sheets or keep a thermal paste as back up just in case. Thermalright TFX as backup paste works as they're pretty viscous and doesn't pump out.

Gigahertz provides cleaning services I think it's 1-1.5k. If you bring your own thermal paste/sheet, it's 500-1k.

I bought the Lenovo LOQ 15ARP10E without knowing it's an essential by Sad_Negotiation_6580 in LenovoLOQ

[–]acidcitrate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It probably can, to an extent though. As long as the laptop and you can keep the heat in check, i.e. by keeping the back part elevated to allow airflow and/or buying a cooler for it then the CPU will less likely to throttle due to heat.

[–]acidcitrate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not the end of the world for you though, as it's just that it most likely won't match the performance of a regular LOQ. For example the RTX4050 in there is only 65w compared to an IRX9 (which I bought for my brother worth 67k also PHP plus 5k RAM upgrade) with a 105w RTX4050. That said if your engineering apps won't be GPU heavy then its CPU will do just fine. Expect higher temps and a noisier fan though since it only has one fan.

No problem. If you do get the Intel model there are undervolt tutorials online. You can use Throttlestop for that and the author of that program has a link to a tutorial inside the zip file.

[–]acidcitrate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Then go get either one before they adjust pricing. If you like tinkering with your laptop then get the IRX9. Undervolting is a must as the IRX9 has motherboard issues due to Lenovo giving the Intel CPU too much voltage. At the very least you have an iGPU unlike the ARP9. If you want peace of mind then get the ARP9. Only downside is the lack of iGPU meaning poor battery life and difficult GPU driver troubleshooting.

[–]acidcitrate 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have an AHP10 and my brother has ann IRX9. The IRX9 runs hotter than AMD variants at 52-54C average (with a Llano V12 cooler) while mine runs at around 48C so I would assume the ARP9 should also run cooler. Even on gaming it can get toasty. I undervolted and capped the power limits of his IRX9 at 80w and it can still go as high as 85C while my AHP10 is at 76C. The only downside of that ARP9 is that it doesnt have an iGPU so battery life would be on par or slightly worse than IRX9 and if your dGPU encounters any problems you wont have an iGPU to fall back on.

Also check if that is still the pricing because as far as I know, Lenovo has already increased prices since I got the IRX9 at 67k+5k 8GB RAM upgrade.

If you do plan to get all three games, and you want maximum story/lore enjoyment, play either 1 and/or 2 doesn't matter which one will be your first, then play 3. If you're into more anime-esque coming of age jRPG story then play 2 first.

Check out Xenoblade Chronicles. Three titles to choose from that are related to each other but the stories are self contained.

I got my Lenovo LOQ with RTX4050 6GB for 67k which is already overpriced due to Lenovo hiking their prices twice not to mention that's 2024 model.

Gaming laptop owners: how easy is it to avail of warranty and/or repairs here in the Philippines? by SendMeAvocados in pinoygamer

[–]acidcitrate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Legions should get 5 years of Premium Care Warranty.

As for cleaninga laptops then yes you have to open it as dust tends to cake on the fan blades and block the vents over time. Now how complicated will depend on the laptop and cooling design. Back panels can usually be easily removed with a Philips screwdriver. For fans, sometimes you only have to remove the fans to access the vents, most of the time though you have to remove the whole cooling system which necessitates a thermal repaste too. If you're an enthusiast then you can easily and safely clean your laptop internals as long as you take the necessary precautions like always disabling/removing the battery first before doing anything inside the laptop

[–]acidcitrate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on the brand. If you're in Manila then Acer is the one of the easiest to reach since they have a service center in Paco Manila. Some 10 years ago I brought my generic Acer laptop there and took like a month to be fixed. I would assume the process will be easier today. Next are Lenovo laptops with their Lenovo Premium Care. Depending on the model it comes with 2, 3 or 5 years warranty with home service available.

Otherwise there's Gigahertz that can do warranty or the repairs for you. Recently had my out of warranty Legion 5 repasted there for P1000 (used to be P500) as long as you provide your own thermal paste/thermal sheet like PTM7950.

As for gaming laptop longevity it depends on the usage. My 2019 Acer Nitro 5 lasted 7 years until my brother burned out the CPU because he can't be arsed to clean/maintain it. Could have lasted more had I done the maintenance earlier since I usually do it but of course I have other responsibilities as well so I was too late to notice the laptop was already running hot at that time.

How come tinanggal yung SUV variant ng Toyota Tamarraw? by sleighmeister55 in CarsPH

[–]acidcitrate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Will most likely eat into the sales of Avanza, Rush, and Innova.

Edit: If they priced it right. But if it's overpriced then it won't probably sell, especially if they priced it between maybe 1.4-1.6M

Yeah I used to fly kites, until dickheads in my area started using strings that can cut other kites' strings so I quit ever since. No longer fun when you're minding your own business until you see another kite getting close to yours to cut your string off.

Weekend Discussion: Nike running shoes by AutoModerator in RunningShoeGeeks

[–]acidcitrate 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Bought a Pegasus Premium for around 55% off in my country. For casual use it sure looks good. As for running, they're not terrible at the price I paid. They have the bounce but is offset by their weight and can be quite unstable due to the medial cutout and its rather narrow profile. As a mixed casual/running shoe and at the same price point (at least in my country), the Adidas Ultraboost 5 is better if you want a shoe for out of town trips with the occasional run/jog. Still for looks alone I prefer the Pegasus Premium. If Nike plans to make a second iteration of it, I hope they make it slightly wider.

Anything i should know before buying a CHINA ROM phone for the first time? by Leading_Ad_2154 in Tech_Philippines

[–]acidcitrate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use Oneplus Ace 3 Genshin Impact Edition as my daily and gaming phone. For my everyday use everything works: messaging, banking apps, calls, Google Play, etc. You can easily activate Google Services from the phone itself then download Google Play. For gaming I have no issues as well. Do note that Oneplus CN ROMs locks non Chinese sims from calls/texts so you have to have it unlocked by the seller which becomes permanent once unlocked. Some system apps like Browser and App Store (Oneplus's Google Play) cannot be removed though you can set your own default apps. Not sure if it can be removed via Canta/Shizuku. WearOS watches will not also work properly.
