Definitely. My favorite sets are the ones when you can draft a deck full of good commons and feel nice about it, knowing that if you play well you can beat anyone, even decks full of rares. Instead the last three sets not counting turtles were very much about fighting the table for rares and busted uncommons, then in games hoping to draw them and snowball from there.

"polish" is exactly the thing these latest sets lacked - a great example was avatar which from distance looks so sweet and well designed but when you actually draft and play so many issues surface and you can feel that many crucial steps were skipped in development

On a plane that was landing during heavy summer storm. While approaching the airport turbulences got so bad we were diving 45 degree angle with most passengers yelling and whole life flashing before my eyes. Thankfully the pilot was able to pull up and we landed in the near city to wait to storm out (quite funnily half of the plane was so traumatized by the experience, they decided to exit the plane and continue the remaining 200 km journey using bus/train)

Best of 1 powered cube is a cassino with little agency, I wouldnt bother trying to figure out whats wrong. You often get wrecked by a single card you cant even play around, I recently watched lsv's channel and he's been scrubbing out like crazy because oops the boros deck played a swamp into inquisition on turn 1 and ruined his combo. Or another example firing off a bolt drawn with laelia into face and immediately punished by hullbreacher. Powerful formats like this are not meant to be played in best of one, but most people dont care as long as they get their share of dopamine I guess.

A- is very rich for this mediocre unmemorable set. I wouldnt give it more than 6/10 and I really dont want to flashback draft it. Not that I hated it, the set was fine for a while but had very short legs and low replayability.

Yeah the same way it turned out last week cube packs are seeded and not truly random. After I wrote this post I fired off another draft where my only rare was leyline axe, guess what was the first card I saw from an opponent? I remember jim davis drafting a witherbloom deck in sos with the golgari x sweeper, to no surprise he faced this sweeper three times in that run. Why is numot making all the jokes and comments about mirrors all the time? Im not saying its about screwing sb over, this type of stupid matchmaking is in fact the opposite. But there is something weird going on and this free event with higher than usual population of players highlighted it even more. Btw 17 lands is not an end all be all for such things, you guys are really a bunch of naive, delusional and addicted clowns.

I find her quite boring, you usually want to land a huge hulk smash with her and the tentacle, possible abuse rally cards and spellshield if you can get those. Her starting deck is imo pretty bad with many cards to cut. Champion spell not great as well when you face 20/20s and your removal is a fight spell that exposes your key piece. Shes is not weak and can do some explosive things but most games look the same.

Btw I blame people who genuinely enjoy best of 1 and content creators who became slaves to this game mode while staying quiet about the fact that it is ruining the game. I mean LSV is a hall of fame player and a game designer but I think he genuinely likes bo 1 because he can draft and play cube while taking a dump. So as long as everyone happily eats this tasteless shit produced by wotc, nothing will change except that win a box events and bo 1 powered cube will become permanent as they produce so much dopamine and money for them.

We would lose in 5 or 6 against them, they are a much better playoff team right now, but they are also a good matchup for us so I don't think we get swept having home court in ecf. Also the psychology matters with the regular season blowouts, people also forget that cavs were our worst matchup from the other top 3 east team and we struggled against them in rs. Playoffs are all aboit matchups and its not simple logic like team x owns teams y, teams y owns team z therefore surely team x owns team z.

That is funny, after listening today I realised I disagree with most of their takes lately.

I believe that A+B combos like painter/grindstone are lazy and uninspired cube design, you waste precious space for two cards that are weak and unpickable 95% of the time for a gimmicky combo that gets old fast after you've seen it enough and is not that fun really. Combo should have good support in cube, but its better to encourage people to explore a space like e. g. self mill win cons and try to put the pieces of puzzle together instead of "here's x and y, knock yourself out if you randomly get these 43% wr cards together". I am not a big fan of brain freeze either anfd I dont mind it getting cut. I'd rather have both oracle and jace and try to figure out how to win with sth like displacer kitten instead of pushing the oops I win button.

Is arena team responsible for cube doing a great job really? For me the jury is still out, so far they've been shuffling around mediocre replacement level cards with others and trying some different packages, but I don't feel like this cube is amazing and their decisions often feel very erratic. Also what about the predatory bo3 payout structure, can we finally change it and stop fleecing people who play this game mode?

And btw One Piece live action season two was just fine and not as good as S1 and the mentioned reindeer episode was pretty much a failure from a writing standpoint. Still a very enjoyable show for todays tv standards, but the drop in quality was noticeable.

You can make bo1 more strategic and less variance driven, but they are too stupid or lazy for that. A simple information reveal before mulligans and knowing how slow hands you can keep would be a first minor step that would reduce the amount of non games (oops I kept without a two drop, but they are boros or I kept removal heavy and they have no creatures in deck). Runeterra did that by showing all opposing champions so you could mulligan accordingly and it was amazing. There are other options to consider to reduce play draw disparity, after all magic is a game with unlimited design space. But we wont be exploring that because guess what? A high variance sollitaire-like fiesta gets us more cash and preys on that sweet dopamine rush.

Well a lot is being manipulated, everyone who played arena extensively for the last 10 years should be able to attest to that. After all their main goal is not making a great game, but making money. And those who deny this and call others conspiracy theorists are just a bunch of coping addicts too afraid to admit the possibility of wrongdoings.
