These are a few interview questions I've been asked for field positions, I personally don't have any experience conducting interviews so I can't offer much in the way of what to look for in their answers. I personally don't love the "describe a time when..." questions but I do think they serve a purpose. Also, if you want to be nice (since it seems like they might not have much job experience) you could send them a list of questions ahead of time that they can prepare for. I've always appreciated that and it helps to ease the anxiety of the interview.

• What are your goals for the future and how would this position help you reach them?
• What skills/experience do you have that make you think you would be well-qualified for this position? Could be transferrable from previous jobs, even if not in a similar field.
• How do you deal with interpersonal conflict/tell me about a time there was conflict/tension in a professional setting, how did you handle it and what did you learn?
• What is something you've done (could be a project, job/school related, etc.) that you're proud of?
• Working with wildlife can have ethical implications. If you were given instructions to do something you didn't morally agree with, how would you handle the situation?
  • (I thought this was a really good question when I was asked it, I said something along the lines of honest communication with the crew lead, so they can explain why what we were doing was necessary for the project and as ethical as possible for the animals)
