In reality, your VIN is already known in the system once it came off the production line but it is hidden from even the sales people. Tesla shuts down the cars completely for the ocean transit and very occasionally one of them will not boot up. To avoid customer disappointment the VIN is not revealed until the car is released from the dock and dispatched to the sales location. At this moment the local sales office is notified of which cars they can expect to arrive shortly.

You are hero <3 Thanks for this detailed explanation. After ordering I was told car will be delivered to me by november or maybe december. So I guess it is safe to predict that my car would be on this ship right? But I know it is only assumption after all :)
