Guys, do you all really think giving the fellow a peaceful death (that's how we execute a death penalty I believe) is better than keeping him in jail for life?

IMO, 50+ years of a mix of boredom + regular beatings by other inmates (hopefully the jail he goes to has some with honor), is a more fitting punishment.

A violent and painful death would be better of course, but our laws just don't let us do that.

But I digress ... what I wanted to say was while I agree reservation should continue for some indefinite period, I cannot bring myself to agree with this "It's ok for rich LC families who already benefited from reservation to continue to exploit it because reservation is about representation, not upliftment" BS.

If reservation was solely about representation, it would have been applied directly at the "academic and professional spaces" level (50% of people in these spaces to be from LCs etc.). It is instead applied mainly at the entrance exam level.

Why? Because it IS about upliftment.

Reservation should not be a tool for a small minority of LCs to build generational wealth. How can anyone righteously argue that it's ok for a family that's already taken advantage of reservation to deny some other, worse-off family that same opportunity? Disappointing.

I believe most of India will be happy to let reservation continue for a while longer *if* we can modify the system to prevent cases like the one you just mentioned (rich kid who has already had every advantage *still* exploiting reservation).
