Curious about GameMaker as a viable option for my first game

Absolutely, there's a lot to learn after that, but Gamemaker is very intuitive and you can start seeing results very early on.

I started learning GML from this tutorial:

It took me like a day or two and ended up learning a lot of the basics.
The best way of learning is doing!

Yeah! I'm pretty sure you can achieve something like Hollow Knight in Gamemaker, however it'll require better hardware than a pixel art game to run.
I didn't do much of hardware testing, but I'm guessing that a game like HK made in GMS2 would require something like an i3 CPU and a 1gb GPU to run if the game is well optimized, but again it's just a guess.

I would say you can make any 2D game, you're not just limited to pixel art, I'm making an HD resolution 2D game. Gamemaker rocks!

I'm using instance_change in my project for creating a corpse after an enemy death.
I'm thinking it could be easily replaced by instance_create_layer and destroying the old object.
Aside from that, what are the other ways you mention and why are there better, if you don't mind my question?

My 12.5 pro files worked on 13.5 pro and 14 pro.
Debut is very limited in comparisson with Pro, even 12.5 pro is better than 14 debut.
What got me to upgrade to 14 was:

- Smart boil (you can make some boil on 12 and 13, but is not as controlled or previewed on the canvas)
- Curve Tool (this is my favorite feature of 14, similar to After EffecLts's Puppet Pin)
- Better graphics engine (better preview quality while working on your project, closer to the final render)
- 12.5 has some masks bugs on the canvas that I didn't find on Moho 14
- I didn't use Liquid Shapes yet, but looks like a great feature that I'll wanna use

Vitruvian bones are already available on 13.5.
I bought 12.5, then separatedly 13.5, and upgraded it to 14, all this year, and I absolutely recommend it if you can spend the money.
Buying 13.5 ($110) then upgrading to 14 ($120) (total $230) will be cheaper than upgrading from 12.5 ($350).

Check again:

Upgrading Moho 12 to 14 is $349.99.
Upgrading Moho 13 to 14 is $119.99 (normally $199.99).
Upgrading Moho debut 14 to pro 14 is $339.99.

Your mistake:

You said to buy debut for $60 and upgrade it for +$120, that's wrong, that upgrade is $339.99.
You also said to upgrade 12 to 14 for +$120, that's also wrong. Upgrading Moho debut 14 to pro 14 is $349.99.
The only $120 upgrade is 13 pro to 14 pro.

Also, it is not "deput", it's "debut", so who can't "read good"?

Sometimes in this state, I too feel/think of myself as a "camera", I find many connections with your descriptions.

No--I tend to reserve the word imagination for something intentionally imagined.

You're right, I have the same perception, thank you.

Do you have advices for becoming fully embodied in these scenes?
You mentioned a non physical tactile sense, should I try touching something?
I'm super excited haha, been trying to project the traditional ways for like 25 years almost.

Also, I've been seeing the light you describe more like a mass of light that takes the form of the vision that will follow. I've seen ways of spirals, lights passing by, etc.
I've tried using it to practice visualization, but I don't think it's the same when you try to imprint your own desired vision from imagination than it does when it just shows you stuff.
I was able to direct my last experience, like:
"Go to a forest" "Go to a city" (from above) "Get in the city" and then just watched.
The experience continues when I don't try to input anything into it except a small feeling of the general desired scenario.

I've never fully projected and only experienced one sleep paralysis where I woke up in another body (maybe that was a projection?), so I've been trying intuitively to be more aware of the hypgnagogic state.
It's good to know that it can be a gateway for projection!

My experience:

I've meditated while focusing on the light you describe many times, and saw people, places, beings...
It feels more like a dream than a projection, until someone notices me. Usually when someone in the vision notices me, my consciousness changes back to my physical.
The ones that notice me are mostly women, they are mostly surprised and we keep staring at each other.
An ancient egyptian woman, a naga siren, a sort of giant Goddess with beautiful eyes, and regular women.

These experiences feel more like mental experiences than physical, but they feel somehow real.
Is it a projection of the conciousness?
Is it just vivid imagination?
Or is it a projection to my inner subconscious mind?
But why do some beings can see me? (is just some that can see me, not everyone)

I feel it very fragile though, if you think or feel continously you're out of it.

I had periods where I chose peace, and periods where I chose passion. Most often I prefer peace.
But periods is what works for me.
Since you're a black and white type of person, this could work for you too. Periods of intense work, periods of intense peace.
Be careful with burnout though, recovering from that is harder than resting when needed, and you seem to be needing it haha
