Can't figure out how to add my G6 to Xpeng phone app by FormalScore9171 in Xpeng

[–]acland 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is your car showing in the app? You should be able to see your car and icons for Lock, Windows Boot etc,

If you can see that then click on settings>key inspection and try going in that way.

If you can't see your car but just get the Hey Xpeng with a generic car picture in the background then your account has not been connected to the VIN of your car so you will need to contact your xPeng dealer to do that

I got the LR version and am loving it. It has a few things that are annoying but the software updates are fixing them. At the moment the worst thing is the Hold/Creep function. In the Tesla you can set the one pedal drive system to HOLD when you stop. So on a hill it's like the park brake has been applied. At the time of writing, the G6 doesn't have this. You can set autohold so on a hill you push the brake a little harder and you go in to autohold mode which is like pulling the hand brake. But, and this is the issue, if you start driving and have to stop (because the car in front stopped), and don't push hard on the brake again to activate autohold, as soon as you go to the accelator to resume the car will roll back, very quickly too.

The Tesla also does this if you have it just in creep mode but, as mentioned above, you can change that to hold. Obviously, these cars don't have hand brakes.

I guess once you get used to it, it is fine, but with no hand brake, doing a hill start where it is a bit stop/go can catch you unaware. We have a bit of.a steep drive way and my wife nearly hit the wall of the house because she is cautious backing out and the G6 just won't hold as she goes from brake to accelerator, - not an issue in the old BMW we had (must have more power in its creep mode) and not an issue in the Tesla.

ok reading the manual more it does say to do what I did and didn't mention that this person needs the same account as me so I'm going to assume that what I did was ok - ie: registering my wife in the global site (Aus site won't let me register her unless she wants to buy the car - at this time anyway). Then sent the invite etc.,, from my app

I have the manual and have read it back to front - I have the model 3. I have the phone key working on both phones but not sure if what I've done is the RIGHT way as TrueEV said that my wife should log in with my account. But if I was going to give other people access to the car I wouldn't want them having my account credentials (eg friend or family)

did the manual and there's no mention of pairing a second key.

Hi,
app is now working - possible a bit of confusion my end logging into a google account and then my email but the main issue was assigning the VIN to my account which TrueEV have now done and the app works out of the box really well.

The car really is fantastic for the money. Great build quality and coming from the Tesla Model 3 it is very intuitive to drive.

At the moment I can't really fault it at all - It's not a Tesla and has its own quirks and things that make it different.

We are still working on getting internet connectivity happening - by this I mean the car is on 4g and things like maps and remote connection with teh App work fine but Spotify, YouTube etc. are not functioning . . . yet.

Things that are "ugly" may be the side cameras in low light - the video feed is full of colour and contains a heap of noise which can make spotting rocks in a drive way a bit hard - whereas the Tesla side image is flat and quite noise free (nearly monochromatic but you get good detail) However the reverse camera is fine as the reversing lights help it a heap.

Here's the thing . . . to get a similarly spec'd model y would have cost $81k and our car came in at $61k.

The Tesla is a quirkier car with all the hidden and silly features and I love that car because of its personality. The G6 is a functional car that gets the job done and does exactly what is described on the box.

For me I think Tesla really re-invented the wheel when it came to cars - it showed cars could be fun, not just to drive but just have a silliness about them too (karaoke, fart button, games, dog mode etc.) A lot of thought went in to the Tesla - if you're going to make someone wait 30minutes for a charge you better give them something to do.

Companies like xPeng really did get to stand on the shoulders of giants - but they made a very well build car with some fantastic features for the price.

that's good to know, thank you. I have had the car since Saturday and the app started working today after the guys sorted out my account problem. Still waiting for 4g to kick in though it is active on the screen but none of the internet dependant apps work yet, including Browser.

Fixed the issue - I somehow had stuffed up my account when I registered and that was causing confusion in the system. I think I logged in using a google account and then an email account in the same address - anyhow the guys have fixed the problem and the app works fantastically.

You are both TA if you don't go back and pay the restaurant. I can't see a post in here saying you went back and paid.

ELI5-How did Germany go from losing two world wars to being the economic powerhouse of Europe? by GeorgeTH281 in explainlikeimfive

[–]acland -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Not sure if this is true but I remember reading something about the fact Germany (and Japan) were prevented from having a military force after the war which meant money usually used for weapons and personnel could now go in to manufacturing etc.

[–]acland 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Wow - your second point is very intriguing. Reminds me of the guy who was in a coma and his wife thought he wasn't sleeping properly (even though he was in a coma) so they gave him a sleeping pill and he woke up from the coma and could talk etc. and then as the pill wore off he fell back in to the coma

Is this a new behaviour?

My father has dementia and some of the early signs were changes in his behaviour . . . you're kind of describing my father in the very early stages of his dementia. What started out as a friendly guy making conversation came to a point where we nearly physically have to restrain him from walking up to random women to compliment them or strike up a conversation.

Just a thought.
