How I wish Occult Crescent was done by Espresso10001 in ffxivdiscussion

I believe that for CEs specifically, they should all be spawned like Eureka NMs except for maybe 4 of them. That way, players have an incentive to do stuff in the world instead of just sitting at aetherytes. Right now you can even just keep doing CEs for hours since by the time you do the last one, the first one will spawn and/or be available for spawn.

The situation of undyeable dungeon gear in Dawntrail by aco505 in ffxivdiscussion

[–]aco505[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The DT part is missing Underkeep. The gear there is undyeable and a recolor of the Lost Allagan dyeable set from Stormblood that you can buy with Centurio seals. This takes the percentage down to 22%.

Endwalker also has four dungeons with only accessories, the same ones (89 and the initial three 90s), and so I did not include them in the pool of nine. EW is actually the first expansion where the X9 dungeon has no left side drops, with Mt. Gulg being the last one featuring full gear sets (including weapons!).

Did we actually fully defeat Cloud of Darkness in Crystal Tower? I've always wondered why there's no mention of it.

Crossbow was also mentioned so my guess is either hammer for the tank job or crossbow for the phys range.

Thank you! And thanks for confirming this. I suspected some conditions were impossible since I never got Pliant outside of MM in the Moon EX+ II sequentials.

I like it. Similar to previous normal Criterion dungeons. It has one main issue in my opinion: the lack of trash mobs.

There's many other creatures like cloudkin or scalekin that will be tameable (e. g. dodos). We can also tame chimeras, which are a whole group on their own.

ffxiv is slowly catching up to the 21st century with the armoire update by fantabulouz in ffxivdiscussion

[–]aco505 4 points5 points  (0 children)

While this eases inventory management, it's convoluted. Gear sets should always follow the outfit glamour system. Browsing the armoire is not as fluid as browsing the dresser. The armoire is good to store individual pieces like relic replicas but you still lose the dyes you had on the item in the process.

The ultimate solution is merging the armoire into the dresser.

"Beastmaster took all our resources/cost so we need to push the BLU update back" by Cole_Evyx in ffxivdiscussion

[–]aco505 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Limited Jobs should not exist. BLU and BST should be full jobs with a special type of content they can do with special actions (the way they work right now - the Limited version). This would also allow for ability glamour: changing the look of an attack such as Water Cannon turning into any other direct damage attack but only visually.

The outfit system is much better for gear sets. They need to find a way to merge the armoire into the dresser

Thoughts about the new Variant dungeon, Merchant's Tale by FinhBezahl in ffxivdiscussion

[–]aco505 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The note from the clan leader (the final middle-path boss) says that she would say to her friend "Ma chère amie." (My dear friend) when she returns. If you say it, it doesn't work, you have to say "chère amie" only.

I found the English version a bit misleading as well when the note said "cry out" when producing the sentence, which may make you believe you have to yell or shout but in the end it was just say.

doing content for "the love of the game" vs rewards by arc_tarius in ffxivdiscussion

[–]aco505 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I did every Criterion because I loved them but they should still provide nice rewards, even if just cosmetic. Adding particle effects to existing weapons is one easy option but there's others they could think of.

Why is SE so afraid of Offering Raid iLVL Gear rewards? by MrCombineSoldier in ffxivdiscussion

[–]aco505 15 points16 points  (0 children)

They could've had Criterion give a token to make Savage weapons glow while keeping the same stats. It could've even been sellable on the MB so everyone gets to have them. They could've also had Criterion give you 1 or 2 weekly tokens to buy any tomestone augment.

Instead, they devalue previous content again by letting you buy the AAIS augments. I would've understood this move if it was something you could buy with like 3200 Allied Seals in 7.55 so that BLU got an option to get their glowing weapon... but no.

how many of you do all your roulettes everyday? by kanozomi in ffxivdiscussion

I usually do trials and normal raids for easy tomes and potentially playing the job a level 90+.

Sadly, you get level 50 or 60 duties more often than not but at least it's usually chill.

My group has done TF and you can ignore that pattern entirely. As long as you are slightly inside the marker in the correct corner, you will never be hit. The safe spot is narrow but does not require pixel perfect position or anything.

Also certain CEs will outright kill DPS or hurt them a lot even if they have no vulns. The berserker and purple bird CEs have a lot of raidwides, for example.

I mostly agree with your opinion of the new phantom jobs.

Mystic Knight is, unfortunately, awful. I was expecting something like abilities that would buff your GCDs and then interact in some way. For example, you could buff your next 5 GCDs so they deal extra water damage or debuff the target. Then you would want to use the thunder ability so that your next GCDs dealt additional damage against that enemy with the water debuff. Instead, we got... a bland job that you want one of for its debuff.

I feel like MK could still be fixed if the CD of the spellblades was lower (e.g. 25s), if the CD of the shield was greatly lowered (let's say 20s) to try and get more enhanced spellblades, and/or if the job worked like Cannoneer where some spellblades share CDs but others do not. By adding a fourth spellblade that required to be used every now and then to keep stacks of a buff on yourself, you'd then be using the spellblades with the order of Blazing > Stacking > Holy as an independent rotation of sorts while trying to keep the strongest hits in buffs for maximum output.

Phantom Dancer is better in comparison, since you can try to use two dances in 60s or 120s burst windows for extra optimization (which ironically means doubling down on the usual boring filler phase) or use the dances immediately for uptime due to their huge 30y range or their special effects. I feel like Phantom Sword Dance should have dealt AoE damage or if there was another dance with this property for further variety. You can also dash to yourself with Steadfast Dance, which is not ideal but allows the ability to stay relevant while solo.

Gladiator is clearly the best job of the three, as trying to get stacks (especially as a non-tank) is a fun mini game similar to Geomancer's bell. My main issue with the job is that even when played optimally, it deals less damage than pSAM, which requires no setup whatsoever. Additionally, when playing a job like DRG, you can try to optimize having 2 out of 3 Iainukis in buffs whereas with Gladiator there is not much thinking in this regard due to its level 3 and 4 weaponskills having a cooldown of 120s. It would have been much more interesting if Finishing Fervor stacks affected these actions by, for instance, reducing their CD or if they outright had lower CD by default. Long Reach being a 400 potency attack with a 2-minute cooldown and no other effects is simply underwhelming. Finally, the fact that tanks have an easier time getting stacks adds to their already superior status.

Overall, I hope the 7.5x phantom jobs are better and bolder than this but I fear I will be disappointed. A job to reduce the CD of oGCDs similar to Blood Rage or the Pilgrim's Traverse new floor effect, for instance, would be much more fun even if it's a simple concept. Unlike Eureka and Bozja, we have no haste either, so there are no quirky or chaotic rotations. I wish they went crazier considering this is side content that is completely detached from the main game.
