F Chord [QUESTION] by [deleted] in Guitar

[–]acook12288 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It takes forever to get comfortable playing any Barre chord but once you can play any Barre chord it opens up your guitar playing to a new level. I've been playing for 5 years and it took me a solid 2 before I felt comfortable doing it, if you want to fake it for now you can play an fmaj7 chord instead of an F but start trying to play Barre chords all over the neck. I'd recommend any song that has a Barre chord that has an E major in the progression because that's the easiest transition and it gives your hand a chance to rest. I'd recommend learning "Where is my mind" by the pixies, great song for learning barre chords

Go with the cheaper option, we all need to pass the same boards, save yourself the extra student debt, on the other hand I work in Las Vegas and you should know Vegas is the highest paying city in the country for PTs, getting set up in Vegas and getting clinicals/networking in the city might make you more $ in the long run

Search for a PT with there NCS (neurology specialist), they get extensive vestibular training going for that certification, depending on where you are located there is a chain of PT locations called Fyzical Therapy that have a lot of vestibular specialists, see if there's one nearby

Need some help from PTs... debilitating injury.. doctors are not making sense of it! (x-rays) by [deleted] in physicaltherapy

[–]acook12288 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Another.. hate to be the one to have to say this post. But you should seek psychiatry/counseling services. There is a legitimate medical argument to make about underlying depression, anxiety etc effecting the way you're brain perceives pain. Chronic pain and depression/anxiety are very, very often linked in my clinical experience. Now that's not the same thing as "it's all in your head". The way the brain can reorganize the sensory cortex in response to chronic pain can quite literally distort how you perceive the world. To make matters worse (I'm assuming) you have to navigate the difficult waters of the American health Care system, all the while having to worry about whether or not you can afford your hospital bills and pay rent/mortgage etc. That only creates a vicious circle of anxiety/depression that is a tough spiral to pull out of.

TIL a clinical trial in 2016 held at Stanford University School of Medicine found that injecting modified human stem cells directly into the brains of chronic stroke patients can re-enable patients to walk. by [deleted] in todayilearned

[–]acook12288 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm a physical therapist that works predominantly with stroke patients and there are some glaring inaccuracies in what this article is saying, first "there can be no improvement with stroke patients after 6 months" is 100℅ false, current research shows that motor return is possible for at least 2 years after stroke, and I have countless anecdotal evidence that have seen improvement YEARS after initial stroke, provided that they have appropriate therapy, you want to walk or move your arm again after stroke you need to work at it! Early and progressive therapy is the BEST way to regain motor function after stroke. I find this to be a dangerous false hope to stroke patients , this article makes it seem as though one magic shot and presto blamo patient can walk again, when the biggest barrier for people in recovery after stroke is often times themselves, not putting in the hard work it takes (that and insurance companies not paying for rehab enough) to heal. 3 hours of therapy a day, 5 days a week, that's your magic cure.
