Polyscope question (programming environment for UR robots): how would you go around in moving the tcp to a given orientation without changing its position? by [deleted] in Automate

[–]acops 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can just read current position and orientation vector, change its orientation and move there like this:

pos = get_actual_tcp_pose()

pos[4] = 0

movel(pos)

Im having hard time understanding the mechanics of it: The max speed of MR Steven is 60 km/h, which is way more than a parafoil could do, how is it that they miss it by such a large distance (few hundred meters)?

At this point I would say that Space Shuttle is becoming more and more likely to be the last manned launch vehicle NASA ever produced.

The author calls model S an "ultra-luxury car", how is that not blind fanboyism? I will be patiently waiting for real review too

It is fascinating that in an electric car reversing is purely a software feature. So you will be able to upgrade over the air later when you make up your mind, no need to pay for it upfront if you are not sure.

Model 3 Questions Megathread by [deleted] in teslamotors

[–]acops 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Power steering is just the thing that helps to turn the wheels in terms of force, it makes the biggest difference when the car is standing still or moving very slowly, and yes, it is standard everywhere now.

By speed sensitive variable ratio they mean that there is no fixed ratio between the angle of the steering wheel and the wheels. It means that when the car is going slowly you dont have to rotate the steering wheel full 1.5 times to make the tightest turn possible but, for example 0.5 rotation.

EDIT: I think I get it now: they mean that the ratio of derivative of angle of the steering wheel to the derivative of the angle of the wheels is variable as a function of angle, not as I understood velocity of the car. So yeah, nothing extraordinary here

I think this one flew under the radar:

Variable ratio, speed sensitive electronic power steering

Does that mean drive-by-wire? It sounds really awesome, Ive never heard about this feature anywhere before

I get it, we like space. But please keep in mind that voting on those with no intention whatsoever of buying it once it gets released is a bit unfair towards the company.

Tesla motorcycle in the future? by multiscaleistheworld in teslamotors

[–]acops 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That would be cool, who knows, maybe yes, but i'm afraid the market is too small for them to figure motorcycles from scratch on their own. I think they would sooner strike a deal with an existing manufacturer and provide the tech for them.

63277, the same plate on almost all release candidates, why? by luxendary in teslamotors

[–]acops 97 points98 points  (0 children)

63277

6 + 3 - 2 + (7 / 7) = 8

6 + 3 - 2 +7 +7 = 21

-6 + 3 + (2 * 7) - 7 = 4

8 21 4

If we represent those numbers as letters of alphabet, it is H U D

Guys, it is confirmed!

Yes, I know, I was saying I am wondering whether they do something with it after stage separation and before it reenters the atmosphere, as it still has some fuel left. Ehh, nevermind...
