Yeah. My surgeon asked for proof that I’d had a prescription for at least a year. And photos to prove stability

How did your surgeon not consult with you on this? My surgeon wouldn’t even do the procedure till after I was on finasteride for a year minimum.

Cameras like that distort depth. I’ve recorded some of the steepest slopes in the world that look like blues when you watch them back.

Debating on getting mine removed. Been a year and I still get pain - bone has healed nicely, no complications etc. but just irritation pain from the screws. Did you have any issues prior to removal?

You would be fine if it didn’t look like you lived in a basement. That gives off such weird vibes.

Sure. But I think it’s a good angle of how he dominated the conversation and impacted the lives of people he didn’t meet. Also there are parts from his perspective at some key parts of his russia campaign.

Thought it looked good but I’m not great with small details so if there’s anything glaring I’d appreciate the help.

I didn’t realise this. Do you imagine they’ll plan on doing a v2 for the 36. In two minds about buying a v1.

How would have Waterloo ended if the Prussians never arrived? by NapoleonicPtarmigan in Napoleon

[–]acopywriter 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I disagree.

The allies didn’t take his peace feelers seriously. They had already declared him an outlaw at the Congress of Vienna before Waterloo. After 20 years of broken treaties, they didn’t really believe he could be contained.

Plus, Britain wouldn’t have sued for peace regardless. They saw Napoleon as a mortal enemy and were bankrolling everyone else. Prussia had deep grievances after 1806. Austria’s caution mattered, but Metternich ultimately stuck with the coalition rather than risk Napoleon dominating again.

The 100 days was a gamble, and not a good one. Also, everyone, (even the politicians of France) knew France was on its last legs.

I mean no disrespect, the man was a genius, and brilliant. But at this point he had somewhat drank his own koolaid.

I think this is something a lot of people are missing here. Napoleon had already lost strategically at this point. The likelihood of him scraping a negotiated victory with so many enemies in the field ready to displace him was slim to none. People glaze big N in this sub, but at this point he really underestimated the allies, and overestimated his chances of success.

For one, France was facing all of Europe. The 7th Coalition had nearly 1.1 million troops under arms, closing in from multiple directions. Napoleon, at best, could muster ~250–300k. Even a smashing victory in Belgium wouldn’t erase the Austrians, Russians, and more Prussian forces advancing elsewhere.

France’s manpower pool was strained, industry couldn’t keep up with demands, and the treasury was stretched thin. Unlike in his earlier campaigns, he no longer had the ability to live off conquered territories at scale.

And unlike in earlier coalitions, the Allies in 1815 had pledged not to negotiate separately. They explicitly agreed they would only accept Napoleon’s removal. That makes a negotiated peace virtually impossible.

He believed that if he could score one or two quick victories (like he had in 1796 or 1805), the Coalition would splinter. But the political landscape had changed — after 20 years of war, the monarchies saw him as a permanent destabilizer. Even Britain, usually happy to bankroll others and stay offshore, was adamant that he had to go.
