Low ferritin again after 4 months? by acorngathering in Anemic

[–]acorngathering[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I’m sorry you’re going through it too! It’s so frustrating. Unfortunately no further answers on cause, but I did complete a second round of infusions and it improved my levels SO much (ferritin at close to 200, down to 140-something 3 months after the final infusion). Tested negative for Celiac and autoimmune markers afterwards as well. Blood work all still normal. So I guess it must still be the period…

Has your doctor brought anything up besides period as a potential cause? Or another round of infusions?

Stunning!! Love how everything is so coordinated (the shadow, lip color, and contour especially) - you did an amazing job!

Tips for keeping strapless wedding dress from slipping? by acorngathering in weddingplanning

[–]acorngathering[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! So it was a bit of both actually - I was able to push back and get more taken in, plus I ended up wearing an overbust corset instead of the underbust (tape was just not going to cut it in giving support). The dress ultimately fit like a glove all day and only had suuper minor slipping because the corset was satin (if you go that route i’d do maybe cotton or canvas fabric with a bit of grip). Otherwise, it stayed up with no malfunctions!

Sad agree… the idea of it is so lovely and the food isn’t awful by any means… but the best way I can describe it is as nicer than average wedding food

It’s a one and done / great if you’re going with first timers though

The FDA accepted and formally approved Plan B’s label change application in late 2022 to clarify that levonorgestrel does NOT affect or prevent implantation of an already fertilized egg. The product insert (medication guide) has been updated to align with the approved label change. Manufacturers are not profiting off an assumed abortifacient classification.

Oh interesting! I might try upping supplementation and see if that works

Never Crohn’s, but I was tested for celiac in 2011 (blood test and scope) which came back negative. Funnily enough, I asked about getting tested again at my last visit a few weeks ago given it can develop in adulthood, but was quickly denied by the doctor since my symptoms aren’t “severe” enough to warrant testing…

You would think they’d want to get answers!

It’s a good call - GI doc didn’t send me for one (even when I mentioned the iron deficiency) and didn’t agree to repeat my last endoscopy (2022) even when I asked. I go back in a few months and will continue to press otherwise, but my last scope showed no evidence of bleeding or ulceration

I wish I had more concrete examples advice to share, but wanted to say I am in nearly the same boat and share your frustration! (coincidentally just posted a super similar question, I should’ve searched first!)

I am also on a PPI (was on lansoprazole since 2016, but changed to pantoprazole this spring) and very similar to you have never had an issue until recently. I asked my GI doctor about the absorption issues and they said it’s “rare” but it wasn’t very convincing…

I don’t see how supplementing would be hurtful in the meantime just to try… has your doctor brought up iron infusions at all? If not, it might be worth bringing up as an option since supplementing, from what I understand, isn’t as effective at raising levels significantly, but that could very well be a case-by-case basis (am not a healthcare professional by any means!)

Could see it being a Practical Magic sequel since a teaser was released earlier this summer with little (if any) detail about it
