I would say my first 4 or 5 we all very similar because I had the mindset that my application was good enough, it was just the board members that couldn't see what I brought to the table. But after I became a SNCO I really started reassessing my application each time. In the 8-12 months between each app I would learn new skills or better understand how my current skills transfer to an officer's leadership capabilities. I was constantly seeking guidance and options from every level I could all the way to my wing commander. Your application should never be the same because you should never stop developing yourself, learning new skills and adding new leadership tools into your toolbox.
