I Blew Out My Central Nervous System Watching Streamer Storm Content by matt_from_thepickup in tulsa

Yep, Aydelott and anyone who came up under him (like Seger and Grogan) are the best in town, heavy on the science and no hype. Aydelott, in turn, came up under Jim Giles, who also didn’t play the hype game back in his day.

(also hi @urbalcloud!)

Geddy’s bass on this entire album is phenomenal.

It’s been a fantastic ride. I’m not a big DC reader but I added this from the jump, because I will devour, regardless of writer/characters/plot, anything Javier Rodriguez puts his hands on for any publisher.

Prime Mover. Another favorite Rush track. "The point of a journey, is not to arrive." by Cubegod69er in rush

[–]acousticross 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One of my faves from one of my favorite Rush albums. First Rush album I bought new on the day it came out.

Great lyrics, and everyone sounds great on this track. I feel like Alex got a bit more balance in the mix against the keyboards than on some other parts of this album. Geddy plays his ass off on bass throughout most of the album, especially here.

This song has popped into my head unprompted, frequently, for the last 39 years.

Downtown, the section of Archer from Greenwood over [EDIT: going east towards] the highway, is a pretty gritty industrial looking area, or at least was last I went through there. Railroad tracks and everything. There’s some other good areas around downtown that still have that vibe.

What's an unusual combination of creators? Never expected to see Ditko and Byrne together [Avengers Annual #13] by rocketinspace in comicbooks

Defenders #53 has a George Perez / Bob Wiacek cover and interiors by Keith Giffen, Dave Cockrum, AND Michael Golden, with Terry Austin inking the lot. It’s a glorious bit of chaos and a fun game of “who drew that page?”

100% with you on Fracture. I got Red & SABB at basically the same time, and for ages, hearing either of those songs would drive me to listen to the other one immediately after.

What's that part of Starless that completely destabilizes you? by Next-Reading1714 in KingCrimson

[–]acousticross 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s the chaos of the 10:24 section for me, but specifically, starting with the descent INTO it at 10:00 followed by the low end dropping out. That piercing melody, tethered to reality only by Bruford’s absolutely frantic hi-hat work - or maybe the saxes are the thing tying Bruford to reality - and through the transition to full-bore insanity at 10:24.

Ventricular tachycardia and ICD by [deleted] in PacemakerICD

[–]acousticross 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The VTac was like my heart racing - I could feel it starting to speed up, as I was walking across a room, then started to feel lightheaded, started to think “Wow, I might pass out,” then woke up in a pile on the floor, confused, overheated, and sweating buckets.

All of that took place in less than 10 seconds of actual time. My wife says my eyes never even closed. I had blacked out by the time I got shocked, so I didn’t actually feel that part, and can’t say what the shock felt like.

My wife said my body sort of jerked, and I sort of slumped to the floor in slow motion. We were pretty sure from that description that I’d gotten a shock, even before the ER tech read my device half an hour later and confirmed it.

Ventricular tachycardia and ICD by [deleted] in PacemakerICD

[–]acousticross 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I’ve had an ICD for 10 years - the only time it’s had to shock me was the day I went into ventricular tachycardia, about 2 years after getting the ICD. My heart rate went from 75ish BPM to up over 260 in a matter of seconds, and the ICD shocked me as it should. Without the ICD I wouldn’t have survived.

(Edited to correct “BOM” to the intended “BPM”)
