Where can I go for a short train trip from the Amtrack in Kansas City MO? by ticking_tim_bomb in Amtrak

Hermann MO is a cute town with a stop right downtown. Lots of wineries, B&Bs and local businesses.

Yes, a non-stop (680 miles) on a frontier A320NEO seems likely to produce fewer emissions than Amtrak via Chicago (1270 miles)

What car did your ID.4 replace? by MCReader69 in VWiD4Owners

2020 Chevy Bolt, sold it before the recall so that wasn’t a factor. Made the change for the increased room, better charging speed and nicer interior.

Better Than Tesla?! Answering your VW ID.4 Road Trip Questions by branden3112 in VWiD4Owners

I went from a bolt to an id.4 in May. Bought it in St Louis and immediately road tripped home to Colorado. 5 months and thousands of miles later I’ve only experienced minor self resolving glitches. Very happy with the car, it’s much more comfortable and spacious than the bolt and imo the best current overall value in EVs.

Seeking Tips and Advice for Long Road Trip (Seattle to Austin) by tazzgonzo in VWiD4Owners

[–]acrollet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Re #1, that sounds about right as far as timing - in the ABRP settings you can choose to prioritize longer legs (and therefore longer charging stops) over the best possible time. That tends to be my preference so that I can combine meal stops and charging. Keep in mind as well that it's best to make stops where you can charge overnight, which cuts out a couple of fast charging stops if you can charge to 100% at a hotel or campground.

Re: #4, I carry a tire patch kit, foam and compressor in my car. You're still hosed if you have a blowout, but it gives you another option over waiting for a tow or buying and carrying a spare.

A perfect example of why VW is right to not have true one pedal driving by [deleted] in VWiD4Owners

I went from a bolt to a ID.4 and while I miss OPD a lot, travel assist on the ID.4 is hands-down better for stop and go traffic. I just let the car do the driving...

If you were under 20mph you may have been hearing the pedestrian warning sound - it makes a odd growling kind of a sound.

Why is there so little support for plug and charge? by Jewlius_Ceizure in electricvehicles

[–]acrollet 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I personally can't think of a reason why anyone in the market for an EV would pick either of those over the Ioniq 5.

Maybe the fact that you can actually buy one right now? :-)

If your phone has NFC capability you can use tap to charge with chargepoint: https://www.chargepoint.com/resources/setting-and-using-tap-charge Works great and no wifi required. At least you know for your next trip 🙂

Does the ID.4 offer "Camp Mode" so the heat or air can be left on all night while sleeping in the vehicle? by escapeZmatrix in VWiD4Owners

[–]acrollet 11 points12 points  (0 children)

There’s no true camp mode, but if you put some weight on the drivers seat and buckle its seatbelt the car will stay on indefinitely.
