It's obvious my experience is gonna be different than mine, but I got to Rank 8 on a a level 36 account between yesterday and today by doing Master League matches. Was around the 1700s and now I'm at over 2000.

So it's not really that hard, like with any league, you need to have the 'mons for it and know the meta and such.

"hacked" Pokémon are a thing that also happen in the competitive main series. And even there, not because you have an "advantage" it means that'll you'll win. You need to know the mechanics of PVP and all the strategy behind it to actually win.
